After receiving record-breaking streams on its first season, Netflix‘s original series 13 Reasons Why has more episodes on the way sooner than you think.

Announced on social media today, the series’ account revealed that the new season will be dropping on Friday, May 18th.

Based on Jay Asher’s young adult book by the same name, 13 Reasons Why focuses on the death of a young high school girl named Hannah (played by Katherine Langford) who left behind a set of tapes explaining her suicide. The tapes were made for her friends and crush, Clay (played by Dylan Minnette).

The second season will pick up in the aftermath of Hannah’s death as characters move forward from this tragedy. In the upcoming season, Netflix says that we will see more of Hannah’s parents demanding answers and file for a lawsuit as well. In addition to tapes, there will be polaroids that will help even more figuring out why Hannah committed suicide.
