After what we’ve been through these last 365 days, we think it’s safe to say that we’re in need for something to put a smile on our faces, and Holmes Family Effect will do just that.
The four episode TV special follows Canadian icon and professional contractor Mike Holmes, his daughter, Sherry, and son, Michael, as they help beloved community institutions, the people who work there and those who benefit from them.
Inspired by local residents and community members making a difference, each episode follows the Holmes family as they surprise these deserving people by transforming their spaces. From a neglected school building to a rundown youth center, the Holmes family helps these heroes in their quest to make a difference.
“I think it’s the perfect time for a show like this to really be coming out. When we first started filming [Holmes Family Effect], it wasn’t during a pandemic; that came in mid-film actually. The fact that it kind of worked out like this — I think everyone really needs a feel-good show [right now],” Sherry tells Celeb Secrets in an exclusive interview.
“This is our first season helping out a community. It’s helping so many more people and we’re just broadening our reach. It’s such a wonderful show for us to be able to film and to be able to share, and I’m so excited for everyone to see it.”
With the final two episodes airing later this evening, Celeb Secrets host Juliet Schroder sits down with Michael and Sherry to learn more about what viewers can expect, adjusting their filming routine to follow safety guidelines and the one thing they’ve learned from this humbling experience.
“You can’t help but take something away from each episode or something from each hero,” Sherry explains. “Everyone is so selfless, and I think that’s the biggest lesson is you learn; you think about other people. I find it so important to just want to give back to be a good person.”
