Helmed by iconic director Marc Klasfeld [Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jay-Z, Katy Perry], the clip depicts band members Ian Axel and Chad King strolling through the city. They deliver their respective verses in black-and-white until splashes of brilliant color match the song’s vibrant melodies and inspiring message. The single heralds the release of their highly anticipated second full-length album, Won’t Stop Running [Black Magnetic/Epic Records]—available in stores and at all digital retailers on November 13.
The group will give a special performance of “Hold Each Other” on stage this Thursday, September 17 at the 2015 Streamy Awards, airing live on VH1. Next week on Tuesday, September 22, they head to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform the song for the first time on network television.
“Hold Each Other” continues a tradition of thoughtful and unshakable anthems from A Great Big World that began with 2013’s “Say Something” (with Christina Aguilera). Their introduction eventually went quadruple-platinum, reached #1 around the world, and achieved a Grammy Award in the category of “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.”
With this track, Axel and King explain “We are hoping that we can inspire people (even just a little) to fearlessly speak their truth when it comes to who they are and who they love.”
Just in time for the album release, A Great Big World reveal the details for two album release shows. They’ll play the Troubadour in Los Angeles November 6 followed by a hometown gig November 18 at Gramercy Theater in New York. Tickets will be on-sale starting September 18. See their official site for all purchase info.
