The British icon recently sat down with Vogue, to open up about her “Self-Redemption” record but most importantly her internal struggle with body image.

“It was because of my anxiety,” she explains. “Working out, I would just feel better. It was never about losing weight, it was always about becoming strong and giving myself as much time every day without my phone,” says Adele.

She also revealed that she worked out three times a day to feel better. “I do my weights in the morning, then I normally hike or I box in the afternoon, and then I go and do my cardio at night. I was basically unemployed when I was doing it. And I do it with trainers.”

Changing her life was important to her, but the “Rolling in the Deep singer made it clear that she only did it for herself.

“People are shocked because I didn’t share my ‘journey’,” shares the megastar. “They’re used to people documenting everything on Instagram, and most people in my position would get a big deal with a diet brand. I couldn’t give a flying f**k. I did it for myself and not anyone else. So why would I ever share it? I don’t find it fascinating. It’s my body.”

Being a music icon can be hard when it comes to dealing with personal space, for Adele it’s been 12 years of learning to deal with it.“People have been talking about my body for 12 years. You don’t need to be overweight to be body positive, you can be any shape or size,” she adds.

The singer has her new song “Easy On Me” coming out October 15, and she also teased her upcoming album to Vogue.
