Leave it to Hollywood’s newest go-to labels AFFFAIR to snag the coveted closing spot for New York Fashion Week this season!
The haute couture brand, curated by Azerbaijani designer Rufat Ismayil, showcased a sultry, empowering, feminine collection for its upcoming fall/winter looks during its runway presentation at Spring Studios on Wednesday (February 13) in New York City.
Inspired by a trip Ismayil took to North America where a monarch butterfly’s intricate wings mesmerized him into a trance of lace, organza, and chiffon, the new collection ranged from cocktail to evening-wear with very avant-garde silhouettes and intricate designs. Bodysuits were paired with multi-meter long trains with headpieces made of feathers, beads, and embellished hair pins.
Turkish supermodel Tülin Sahin opened the show with a two piece ensemble complete with a beaded midriff bomber jacket and a satin emerald pleated skirt, giving off sophisticated “school girl” vibes.
One of our favorite pieces was the finale piece — a black velvet long sleeve evening gown with a voluminous ruched bottom in a deep goldenrod. It seems that Ashanti seems to dig the look too, as the singer wore the piece to the 61st Annual GRAMMY Awards this past Sunday (February 10).
Notable attendees that sat front row included Francesca Curran (Orange is the New Black), Jennifer Aydin (The Real Housewives of New Jersey), Angelina Pivarnick (Jersey Shore), Daniella Salvi, and Rahmeka Cox (Miss New York 2018).
Celeb Secrets editor-in-chief Juliet Schroder was also in attendance, soaking in all of the stunning looks from Ismayil’s collection for her own red carpet inspiration.
