After 28 Incredible Years, Daft Punk Announce That They’re Parting Ways

The group who motivated us to stay up all night to get lucky are now hitting the hay and calling it quits. Parisian duo, Daft Punk, have announced that they’re officially parting ways.

The artist uploaded an 8-minute video to YouTube titled, “Epilogue,” showing an excerpt from their 2006 film, Electroma. The video displayed the pair in their signature robot outfits walking in the desert, one of them straps a device onto the other, and the device inevitably counts down to an explosive ending.

Daft Punk did not explicitly state in their video that they were splitting, but their publicist, Kathryn Frazier, confirmed the groups’ decision to separate.

Daft Punk was created by Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo back in 1993. The pair wanted to revolutionize French house music and through their 28-year run, their music has reached people worldwide.

The duo are most well-known for their hit tracks, “One More Time” and “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger.” Daft Punk also worked on popular hits, “Get Lucky” with Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers, “Black Skinhead” with Kanye West, “I Feel It Coming,” and “Starboy” with The Weeknd.

We are sad to hear the duo has come to an end, but we hope for the absolute best for them on their journeys!
