Agnez Mo on the Key to Making Music: ‘Find An A**hole Boyfriend’

If you break Agnez Mo‘s heart, chances are she’s going to write a song about it.

The International superstar spoke with our host Juliet Schroder on the 2019 American Music Awards red carpet last November about the key to making such amazing music, and her answer was absolutely jaw-dropping.

“I make my best music when I am heartbroken,” she tells Celeb Secrets. “People are asking what’s your secret to making great music? Find an a**hole boyfriend. That always inspires me.”

Mo’s exes can’t even escape the shade, as she makes it a point to let them know what they’ve done by listening to each track.

“Of course [they listen to the songs], sometimes while going through it,” she shares. “A lot of times guys don’t wanna listen when we try to explain things, but when it’s in a song, they have no choice but to listen to it, so it’s always been fun.”

2019 was a huge year for Agnez in the U.S. Back in November, the international pop star unveiled a new track, “Nanana,” and Twitter quickly ate up the release, making #Nanana a trending hashtag. Having spent the last two decades in the spotlight (she began acting at age 6) it’s no surprise Mo’s loyal fanbase, that includes 20 million on Instagram and 18 million on Twitter, quickly stepped up to support her latest offering.

The triple threat entertainer has collaborated with the likes of T.I., Timbaland, and recently French Montana, for the bouncy track “Diamonds” and earned an iHeartRadio Music Award, which she can add to her staggering collection of 170 awards she’s already collected over the course of her impressive career.
