Alicia Keys, Kendall Jenner & Noah Centineo Share Their Favorite Books in New Snap Original

It’s been almost 3 months (wowza) since we’ve been staying at home due to the Coronavirus pandemic and to be quite honest with you, we haven’t been that bored.

For the past 11 weeks, we’ve been sharing with you ideas on how to keep busy during this weird (and difficult) time. From learning TikTok dances and tie-dying clothes to hosting quarantine game nights and mixing our own cocktails and mocktails, the opportunities of what you can do at home are endless.

The newest hobby on our list to keep our minds moving is reading, and lucky enough, Snapchat just dropped a new series called The A List Book Club where celebrities like Alicia Keys, Russell Westbrook, Kendall Jenner and Noah Centineo share their favorite books and how it changed their heart, mind or point-of-view to keep students at home inspired to read during this time. The virtual book club series is part of a first-of-its-kind partnership between the Los Angeles Unified School District and Snap Inc. to leverage the powerful combination of education and technology to help keep high school-aged students connected to learning while campuses remain closed.

The self-shot series kicked off with Keys just yesterday, where she opened up about how Brown Girl Dreaming by Jacqueline Woodson resonated with her personally. Westbrook’s episode debuts tomorrow where he talks about Becoming by Michelle Obama, while Jenner’s and Centineo’s drop on May 31st and June 2nd, respectively.

Taking a little different approach from the way Snap Originals usually run, each episode airs on both Snapchat’s Discover page, as well as on the LA Unified YouTube channel. To encourage reading across the country, the series will air without the “swipe up” option to Snapchatters nationwide.

At the end of each episode, produced by Bunim/Murray Productions, Los Angeles Unified students can “swipe up” to be directed to LA Unified’s website and enter their student credentials to receive a free digital copy of the book. The book donations will be funded by LA Students Most In Need, the charity created to support students and families during this time..
