Celeb Secrets: Can you tell us a little bit about your new series Spirit Riding Free and your character?
Amber Frank: “The show is about a young girl named Lucky who moves to the frontier and falls in love with a horse who’s just as amazing as her. I play Lucky! Lucky is really cool because she’s super courageous and independent. She always stays true to herself and never gives up. When she sets her mind to something, she always does her best to achieve it.”
Celeb Secrets: Can you tell us about your audition process and how you became involved with the project? What drew you to the role?
Amber Frank:Â “I had been auditioning for voice over work for probably 7 years by the time I auditioned for Spirit but never booked anything. Then I went in and auditioned for this and I remember thinking how much I loved the script and it felt so much like a live action script which I really loved. Everything was so authentic and well written and I really related to Lucky, I feel like she is a part of me now which is pretty cool.”
Celeb Secrets: The series is based on the Oscar-nominated film Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron — were you a fan of the film or watched it prior to recording your voiceover?
Amber Frank:Â “Yeah, I loved Spirit and watched it a lot when I was younger! I think it’s cool how this show is based on that but has a new interpretation of it. The original was amazing so I’m glad the reboot is more of a new take on the story instead of a re-do.”
Celeb Secrets: The girls are a little younger than you — did you feel that you could have related to them when you were their age?
Amber Frank:Â “Absolutely. When I was Lucky’s age I wanted everything she has. I wanted a horse that looked and acted just like Spirit, two best friends and to live on the frontier. I guess now I kind of get to live that dream through her.”
