American Idol XIV: “1980s Night Recap” – March 25, 2015 (@AmericanIdol #Idol)

American Idol XIV honored the 1980s for its third week of live shows at CBS Studios on Wednesday evening (March 25) in Los Angeles.

After Qaasim Middleton snagged the only save for the season, the stakes were raised as the contestants faced a double elimination. With the help of 80s icon Boy George, the Top 11 contestants put their twist on their favorite 80s classics.

The show kicked off with David Hasselhoff delivering the results to host Ryan Seacrest, followed by a medley performance dedicated to the 80s. After David Hasselhoff’s performance, the Top 11 — Daniel Seavey, Tyanna Jones, Qaasim Middleton, Nick Fradiani, JAX, Adanna Duru, Maddie Walker, Rayvon Owen, Joey Cook, Quentin Alexander, and Clark Beckham performed their own rendition of  “Karma Chameleon.”

The first contestant to proceed to next week’s live shows was Daniel Seavey. Seavey performed “You Make My Dreams” by Hall & Oates and received positive feedback from the judges. Following Seavey, Quentin Alexander, Joey Cook, Tyanna Jones, JAX, and Nick Fradiani had their chance to perform for America’s votes.

After the commercial break, Salt-N-Peppa gave a throwback performance of their lasting hit “Push It” before the next contestant, Clark Beckham, took the stage. After Clark gave such an emotional performance, it was time for the saved contestant Qaasim Middleton to perform “Addicted to Love” by Robert Palmer. Middleton showed America that he deserved the only save of the season by putting on a stellar performance.

After eight contestants were put to the next round, it was time to determine the bottom three contestants’ (Rayvon Owen, Adanna Duru and Maddie Walker‘s) fate. Rayvon Owen was saved and performed his rendition of Tears For Fears’ “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” for America’s votes. With Rayvon’s save, Adanna Duru and Maddie Walker‘s time on Idol came to a close.

The competition continues next week, as Kelly Clarkson joins the top nine to give advice based on her own Idol experiences. Each contestant will perform their own rendition of a Kelly Clarkson song. Make sure to tune in next Wednesday @ 8PM ET/PT on FOX to watch vote for your favorites!
