Nickelodeon and NickSports hosted a special red carpet premiere event for its new documentary Little Ballers earlier this month (February 14) at Pier 60 in New York City.
The event featured a star-studded red carpet, including NBA players Brook Lopez (Brooklyn Nets), J.R. Smith (Cleveland Cavaliers), Andre Drummond (Detroit Pistons), Baron Davis (New York Knicks), Charlie Villanueva (Dallas Mavericks), Gorgui Deing (Minnesota Timberwolves), Langston Galloway (New York Knicks), NFL players Andre Williams (New York Giants), Antonio Cromartie (Arizona Cardinals), Desmond Trufant (Atlanta Falcons), Dwight Freeney (San Diego Chargers), Mercedes Lewis (Jacksonville Jaguars), Taiwan Jones (Oakland Raiders), WNBA players Skylar Diggins (Tulsa Shock), Elena Della Donne (Chicago Sky), Tyler Alvarez (Every Witch Way), Marcus Scribner (Black-ish), Benjamin Flores, Jr. and Breanna Yde (The Haunted Hathaways), director Crystal McCrary, and the “Little Ballers.” Inside the event, special VIPs were able to catch a sneak peek of the documentary before the general public while munching on yummy party snacks and playing fun sport-related games inside the party room.
Set against the backdrop of New York City, Little Ballers tells the story of four diverse 11-year old boys and their coach as they set out to win an AAU National Championship. For these young men, basketball is more than a game. It is a deep passion that holds a special meaning for each of them: escaping their environment, getting an education, living the American dream and a bond of friendship, but more than anything, basketball offers them hope.
Make sure to catch it tonight, February 25th @ 9PM ET during the NickSports programming block on NickToons.
