Bibhu Mohapatra Unveils “Nothing Personal” SS20 Collection During NYFW: The Shows

Bibhu Mohapatra really outdid himself this New York Fashion Week!

The designer unveiled his new SS20 collection during NYFW: The Shows 2019 on Tuesday (September 10) at Spring Studios in Tribeca, which he calls “Nothing Personal.”

“The creatives of my spring 20 collection is driven by the book: ‘Nothing Personal,’ published in 1963, a project by former high school friends, James Baldwin and Richard Avedon,” Mohapatra says of the collection. “Both artists, in the 1960s, at a time of civil rights crisis, joined their artistic voices and conducted a creative examination of American identity and individuality.”

He continues, “With this creation, I celebrate the American beauty and its diverse identity of strength, courage and originality.”

Filled with tulle, silk, and fine leathers and furs, Mohapatra’s SS20 collection is filled with evening wear that one always dreams of wearing. With a mixture of both bright and classic colors, the collection truly embraces identity and individuality. The audience seemed to enjoy the show as well, as the designer made his way down the runway with a standing ovation.
