Billy Porter, Zachary Quinto, and EJ Johnson Join the Cast for ‘Proud Family’ Reboot

Billy Porter, Zachary Quinto, and EJ Johnson are officially joining the cast for The Proud Family reboot, Proud Family: Louder and Prouder.

According to a press release, Porter and Quinto will be voicing Randall and Barry Leibowitz-Jenkins, who are mixed-race adoptive parents to 14-year-old activist Maya Leibowitz-Jenkins.

Johnson will voice Michael Collins, Penny’s best guy friend who is a non-conforming trendsetter, serving up fierce looks at school and on the basketball court.

Johnson’s role will show his voicing talents, as people may know him from his regular appearances on unscripted shows like Rich Kids Of Beverly Hills, Red Table Talk, and Steve Harvey. Porter is no stranger to lending his voice to television, as the style icon has voiced characters on The Simpsons, and narrated for the HBO Max docuseries, Equal. Quinto also has a track record for sharing his voicing talents on animated shows, as he’s been featured on Netflix’s Big Mouth, and Amazon’s, Invincible.

The Proud Family reboot will pick back up with our favorite characters, and those who originally voiced them. The cast members reprising their voice roles from the original series are Kyla Pratt as Penny Proud, Tommy Davidson as Oscar Proud, Paula Jai Parker as Trudy Proud, JoMarie Payton as Suga Mama, Cedric the Entertainer as Uncle Bobby, Carlos Mencia as Felix Boulevardez, Maria Canals-Barrera as Sunset Boulevardez, Alvaro Gutierrez as Papi, Karen Malina White as Dijonay Jones, Soleil Moon Frye as Zoey Howzer and Alisa Reyes as LaCienega Boulevardez.

The animated sitcom is currently in production at Disney Television Animation. The show is planned to launch on Disney+ in 2022.
