Last night, BLACK VEIL BRIDES achieved the top honor at the Alternative Press Music Awards, receiving “Album of the Year” (presented by Journeys) for their self-titled fourth full-length album. [LAVA/Republic].
The Los Angeles rock mavericks accepted the statue to a roar of applause from the packed Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland after performing their hit song “Faithless” Billy Idol’s “Rebel Yell” earlier in the night with a full orchestra.
At the awards show, the band took the stage and Andy Biersack thanked the crowd saying, “Thank you so much to everyone who voted for us to get this award tonight, thank you to everyone at AP for having these awards and covering us for so many years.” Biersack then dedicated the award to their friend Chris Holly who passed away earlier this year.
This marks their second APMA win after taking home last year’s “Most Dedicated Fans” award. Fittingly, they also celebrated the fifth anniversary of their full-length debut We Stitch These Wounds this past week, bringing everything full circle.
Recently, the band dropped their Alive and Burning DVD/Blu-Ray which hit #1 on the Music DVD chart. Captured during their sold out performance at the Wiltern last Halloween, the incendiary concert was named Loudwire’s “Release of the Month.” It’s the next best thing to seeing them live.
BLACK VEIL BRIDES continue to bring real fire to modern rock. Upon release in October 2014, Black Veil Brides debuted in the Top 10 of theBillboard Top 200. Previously Wretched and Divine clocked in at #7 and spawned the hit “In The End,” which Revolver named “Song of the Year” at the 2013 Golden God Awards. The band has served as Warped Tour headliners, performed everywhere from Download to Rock on the Range, and toured with acts ranging from Avenged Sevenfold and Hollywood Undead to Slash and Mötley Crüe. Moreover, they’ve covered Alternative Press four times with the 2013 issue becoming the highest pre-ordered magazine in the publication’s history and “the top-selling issue of 2013”.
