BLACKPINK Named Goodwill Ambassadors At UN Climate Change Conference

Calling Blinks all over the world! The members of BLACKPINK want to help prevent climate change and they can’t do it without your help.

After their initial call to action back in December, which reached 2.2 million views on YouTube, the girl group was invited to become official Goodwill Ambassadors for the United Nations Climate Change to advocate change and raise awareness about climate change all over the world.

The girls – Rosé, Jennie, Lisa, and Jisoo – received the official title at the United Nations Climate Change conference on February 25th. Their interview with BBC discussing the importance of raising awareness of climate change was released as well.

In the interview, Rosé explains that the group is still learning about all the matters that lie within the global issue and what they can do to protect the planet.

Sir David Attenborough’s documentary, “A Life On Our Planet,” helped the girls realize the importance of our planet and they immediately knew they wanted to take action.

“The documentary showed us how precious our planet is and how vulnerable it is right now,” Jennie shares, “we’re losing more of the natural world every day, and [we feel like] time is running out. We really felt like we needed to say something.”

The UN met six years ago in Paris to sign the accords to help limit global warming, and this November they’ll be meeting again in Glasgow for their #COP26 UN conference.

BLACKPINK is speaking up now so that their audiences all around the world can help take the first step to raise awareness of the cause.
