EXCLUSIVE: Brynn Cartelli Wants to be “More than Just ‘The Voice’ Winner”

This year, small town girl Brynn Cartelli‘s world turned upside down when she auditioned for season 14 of NBC’s The VoiceAfter joining Kelly Clarkson‘s team, the 15-year-old captured America’s hearts with her grace, talent, and charming personality, which led her to be the series’ youngest winner in its seven-year run!

Celeb Secrets was lucky enough to speak with Brynn about her musical and personal journey on the show, future plans, new music, and more.

“I went from living the most normal and basic 15-year-old life to now being the winner of The Voice,” Brynn said. “I did not think that I was going to win until I heard my name called. That’s the honest truth! I knew that no matter what happened, I was going to start my career in music. Now that I won, it just makes it a bit easier!”

Even though winning a reality singing competition is a huge accomplishment, the highest-rated competition series on primetime television has been under fire for not actually producing household names following the competition. Cartelli will definitely not be a one-hit wonder, as the singer is wasting no time when it comes to releasing new music and stressed that The Voice competition was just the beginning of her music career.

“I don’t want to just be the winner of The Voice. I want to create my own name for myself and branch off from what I did on the show. It was an incredible experience, but it’s time for me to do my own thing!”

Brynn hopes to get her album out as soon possible, which she describes as a “collection of personal stories.” Fans can expect to cry, jam out, and sing along to new tracks that vary in style and meaning.

“These songs are my babies that I’m releasing out into the world. They are going to be super soulful, beautiful, and really fun at the same time. I know people go through things in life that change them and no matter what it is, you’re able to see what you used to be and where you came from and smile. That to me is the connection I want to make with my fans, and I’m really excited to do that,” Brynn said.

Details as to which songs will be included on the album are yet to be released, but fans can expect one song in particular to make its debut.

“When I was at the way bottom of the competition, I started writing a song and one of the lines in it was ‘Oh, started the way from zero and now they see her as the hometown hero.’ That’s a song I’m hoping to release on my new album,” she said.

One thing we love about shows like The Voice is that you get to see each artist grow both musically and personally. Being on The Voice introduced Brynn to new ways of thinking while coming across things she had never experienced before.

“I was stuck in a very small town surrounded by farms, but learning about other contestants and their backgrounds and lives, I realized how small of a world I was living in. Britton Buchanan is a 60-year-old man stuck in an 18-year-old Southern boy’s body, and I never expected to become best friends. People like him have changed me and my perspective on the world.”

Another is the friendships is creates for the artists! While Brynn instantly became BFFs with Britton Buchanan, she also made long-lasting connections with other contestants on the show.

“So many of them have become older brothers and sisters to me. I am a baby in this industry with so much to learn, but they have so much more experience and knowledge that they so kindly share with me. They have introduced me to some of my favorite musicians of all time, and I don’t know what I would do without them,” she said.

When Brynn is not in the studio recording new music or performing on stage, she is an avid slime video watcher. That’s right, slime lovers. This gal can’t get enough of her slime.

“I have an obsession with watching slime videos like I’m an 8-year-old. It’s so weird, but I watch them like no one’s business! I would watch them before performance days during The Voice- my mom thought I was crazy!”
