Cassadee Pope Has Delivered Our “Summer” Soundtrack with New EP – Review

Happy Friday, readers!

Meet your new summer soundtrack this season – Cassadee Pope‘s brand-new EP Summer.

The four song extended-play is a follow-up to The Voice season three winner’s full-length, Frame by Frame. If Summer EP is anything like Frame by Frame (which it totally is), we predict nothing but big things for this record.

JUST IN: Cassadee is off to a glowing start with the EP, which is already in the Top 5 on the iTunes Top Country Albums chart. The video for lead track “Summer” is dominating the #1 Country and #10 All Genre spots.

“Growing up in Florida, I experienced a lot of vibrant sunrises and sunsets. The SUMMER EP is a lot like those moments … full of reflection, exhilaration, nostalgia and colorful imagery,” muses Cassadee. “My fans will really get to know me through the lyrics in these songs, and I hope, find confidence in themselves and their unique journeys just as I continue to in mine. Turn it up, and let’s start summer right now!”

You can purchase Summer here and make sure to check out our album review + the music video below.

Summer

“ The tan lines fadin’ on my sun kissed skin,

Hits me like a wave when I think about it.”

The first song to greet us sets the tone for the entire EP. “Summer” is the kind of track you’ll want playing as you drive down to the beach or kickback with your family on those Sunday barbeques. It’s an upbeat, catchy song and for this reason, we know fans are going to love it!

Piano

“You played me like a piano,

You made it feel pretty stringin’ me along.”

The tones of this tune are soft and sweet with a heavy message woven into the lyrics. After listening to this song, it’s hard not to wonder who this song could possible be about. It revolves around a strong “girl power” mentality, and we’re sure that anyone who has suffered heartbreak will easily relate to this track.

Kisses At The Airport

“I just wanna make sure you know.

This one means I miss you.”

This song is slightly different from the others we’ve heard. It’s slower and contains more emotion. You can really hear the vulnerability entwined with more of that country twang Cassadee is known for having.

Allen

“I’m a blackbird flyin’ in a white fence town”

Allen has to be my absolute favorite song within this collection. It truly ties the EP together and leaves you on a euphoric high. You can hear such a dynamic amount of confidence and sass within her vocals.  The guitar playing in the back of the song compliments her vocals well. Overall, this tune is simply incomparable when stacked up the music we hear today.
