Celeb Secrets Talks to Addison Holley About Her Daytime Emmy Nomination – EXCLUSIVE Q&A

Everyone has been chatting about the 43rd Daytime Emmy Awards that are being held at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel and Suites in Los Angeles next month; who’s nominated? Who will have the honor of receiving an Emmy? We will have all the answers to these questions on Sunday, May 1st!

To get you ready for the big day, Celeb Secrets sat down with Addison Holley last week to talk about her show Annedroids on Amazon Studios. If you aren’t familiar with the series already, Annedroids is a live-action adventure series about Anne, a young female scientist, her human friends and the android assistants she’s created, and the amazing scientific discoveries they make while undertaking the biggest experiment of them all: growing up. The series spotlights, through trial and error, how science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) can inspire children to do great things.

In our interview the actress talked about her nod for “Best Performer in a Children’s Series” for her character Anne, the show’s incredible success, and her passion for dancing and acting.

“I was really shocked when I first heard the news,” Addison dished to us exclusively about her Emmy nomination. “I couldn’t be more thankful for this huge honor.”

Take a read at our Q&A below.

Celeb Secrets: You’ve been staring in Amazon’s Annedroids as Annie for the past 4 seasons. Can you tell us about that experience?

Addison Holley: “I started filming Annedriods when I was 13 years old and we did four seasons. We filmed the first two back to back and season three and four back to back. It was an amazing experience for me. I learned so much because the show is so educational. So every day when I was on set and every new script I’d get, I’d learn something new about science or any day to day life lessons.”

Celeb Secrets: Congrats on all your success! You are currently nominated for Best Performer in a Children’s Series at the 2016 Daytime Emmy Awards.

Addison Holley: “I was really shocked when I first heard. I didn’t know that was going to happen. I’m just so happy and I couldn’t be more thankful for this huge honor.”

Celeb Secrets: Annedroids is also nominated for this years Best Children’s Series as well. Congrats to you and the rest of the cast on that!

Addison Holley: “Annedroids I think has ten nominations in total. The show is up for Best Director, Best Writer, Best Series and more. It’s so amazing because we did become family so to see everyone else nominated too makes me so happy.”

Celeb Secrets: In the show you do some crazy science experiments. Which one was your favorite?

Addison Holley: “I loved this one experiment we did… it was pretty much an explosion with pink foam.  It was using a bunch of ingredients that I didn’t know when you mixed together it could create this big explosion of foam. It was also fun to shoot with my costars as well and afterwards we have this big foam fight so that was super cool. For the most part they have special effects guys come on to the set and have all their materials ad equipment hey use to create whatever we are doing. It was really cool because for me too I was seeing this all happen in front of me and learning these new techniques and new things that they use on set to create an action scene, explosion or fog and all those things that are used in movies and television series.”

Celeb Secrets: Your character is an inspiration to young girls because of her leadership, intelligence and creativity. Is it weird to think at such a young age you are a role model ?

Addison Holley: “It is weird but it is for sure an honor. Anne is a character that is very special to me because of that and  it makes me very happy that this character that I got to portray has been this role model for kids and really anyone. Especially since it’s [Annedroids] around the world and not just here, it’s motivating kids everywhere.”

Celeb Secrets: Since we live in such a social media type of world, what is the reaction to the show from other areas around the world?

Addison Holley: “I’ve gotten a lot of fan mail and that always cute to see. Annedroids is targeted to more of a younger audience like six to about ten or eleven, so a lot of those kids aren’t using social media yet. I know there are a lot of kids on social media because I’ve got a lot of comments on my Instagram pictures and follower requests, but not as much as we would typically think because of the target audience. I’ve for sure gotten a lot of fan mail from little kids. It’s so nice to see them because they hand wrote it themselves, put little stickers, tell me what they love about Anne or what they love about the show and what their favorite Annedroid is. I’ve seen pictures of kids dressed up as my character for Halloween and all of that.”

Celeb Secrets: When did you first know you wanted to get into acting?

Addison Holley: “I loved to perform since the age of three or four. I started dancing when I was two. I would always love to be in front of people and entertaining people.Whether it was my family coming over for a family event or dinner, I would put on a show singing or dancing or reenacting a movie or a scene that I saw. I would always love to entertain and would always love to have an audience and hear an applause. It wasn’t until I was six when my parents finally agreed to let me professionally act. I’ve loved to entertain at a very young age.”

Celeb Secrets: You mentioned that you are a dancer. Can you give us details on that part of your life?

Addison Holley: “I started dancing when I was two years old in ballet classes and I’ve been dancing ever since. Dancing is something I’ve just loved to do. It’s a way I express myself and feel like nobody is watching and escape from the world. Along with acting, I’m taken away from school a lot of the time and I miss a lot of events that my friends are going to. So, I always make sure that I have my own social life and make time with my friends. I compete in dance competitions. We practice from September all the way til about Mid March in group dances and solos.”

Celeb Secrets: If you have one song to dance to for the rest of your life what would it be?

Addison Holley: “That’s a hard one. I love  “Skinny Love” by Birdy.”

Celeb Secrets: What else do you have planned for the rest of 2016? Working on any new projects?

Addison Holley: “I have three animated series on the go right now that I voice characters in. There is PJ Masks on Disney Jr. where I voice Amaya / Owlette, Little Charmers where I voice Hazel and Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood where I voice Miss Elaina. I also just finished a movie a couple months ago called the Red Maple Leaf (stars the late Doris Roberts).”

Celeb Secrets: Since we are Celeb Secrets… tell us something most people don’t know about you.

Addison Holley: “I have a trampoline in my backyard and I can do a lot of cool tricks on it!”
