Today, we are sharing our thoughts on who will be taking home the live fan voting awards for Entertainer of the Year and New Artist of the Year.
The 2015 Academy of Country Music Awards airs LIVE from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Sunday, April 19th @ 8 PM ET/PT on CBS.
NEW ARTIST OF THE YEAR
New Artist of the Year is fan voted category which is always a hard-fought category at the ACM awards. Sam Hunt, Thomas Rhett, and Cole Swindell have all make an impact over the course of the past year. We are going to say Thomas Rhett will be taking it home this year. Thomas recently just celebrated his latest single “Make Me Wanna” reaching number 1. This is his third consecutive number 1 single from his debut album, “It Goes Like This.” He just released the first single from his much anticipated second album, which incorporates some soul influences. He has also been busy writing songs for other artists, including Jason Aldean, Lee Brice, and Florida Georgia Line. With all of this success coming his way, Thomas Rhett will be taking this trophy home.
ENTERTAINER OF THE YEAR
Florida Georgia Line
Looking at the nominees, it really could be any one of these five. Garth Brooks is already a six-time winner of Entertainer of the Year at the ACM Awards, and with his exciting comeback, he’s been talked about quite a bit. Jason Aldean had a great year, with his 2014 release, Old Boots, New Dirt, becoming one of only two platinum-certified country records last year. This is Florida Georgia Line‘s first time being nominated in this ACM category, but they are no stranger to winning at this awards show. Mr. Hottie Luke Bryan is on a winning streak with this award, he won Entertainer of the Year in 2013 and 2014, however as much as we love him, we think his streak might be coming to an end this year. Miranda Lambert was nominated for Entertainer of the Year in 2013 and 2014. She has eight nominations at this year’s ACMs, the most of any artist giving her a definite advantage, which is why we think Miranda will be taking it home this year.
