CelebSecrets4U Talks to Emily Ann Roberts After Being Named Runner-Up on “The Voice” Season 9

Congrats are in order for Emily Ann Roberts this week!

Although Team Blake‘s contestant did not win season nine of The Voice this week, the 17-year-old accomplished so much these past few months — she was named runner-up!

CelebSecrets4U was able to speak with Emily every Monday after her performance and we got nothing but good vibes from her. Our most recent chat with the 17-year-old this week was a little different. The interview was not about how she can go further in the competition, but to reflect on all her amazing accomplishments these past few months.

In our interview, Emily gave us the inside scoop on what it was like being on Team Blake. She also talked about what she could have changed during her time on the competition and what’s in store for her in the future! Make sure to read the full Q&A below.

Emily, originally from Knoxville, TN is a high school student with a unique passion for classic country and bluegrass music. As one of the younger artist on the show, Emily managed to win the country over with her rustic voice and humble charisma.

CS4U: What was your favorite memory from being on The Voice?

Emily Ann Roberts: “I’ve had so many really funny times with Blake. He’s just like an older brother to me almost, we’ve become really great friends and I’m so thankful for everything he’s done for me. There were so many times where we’d just sit around and laugh at each other. My most favorite time was definitely singing with Ricky Skaggs in the finale – that was a dream come true, I love his music and it was awesome to share the stage with him!

CS4U: Is there anything you wish you could have changed over the competition?

Emily Ann Roberts: “I just wish I had been more confident throughout the whole thing. I feel good about the performances but I would beat myself up a lot and that doesn’t really help anything. You have to be hard on yourself to a point where you can grow but it’s hard when you’re in that situation when you’re being compared to other people. I wish I could just go back and tell myself that the lord made me the way I am for a reason. But I wouldn’t trade this experience for anything.”

CS4U: What’s life behind-the-scenes of The Voice?

Emily Ann Roberts: “There’s a bunch of goofing off. I have videos of Zach (Seabaugh) and Barrett (Baber) rapping and goofing of. There’s a lot of eating. It’s like family time all the time, we really were a family, and you could always find us joking around!”

CS4U: Will you be going back to school after the competition?

Emily Ann Roberts: “Yeah! I am only 17 so I plan on being back at school next semester. I’ve missed it a lot I love my schools I cant wait to be back and see all my friends, and be with my ensembles choir, basketball games – I’ve missed it all!”

CS4U: If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be?

Emily Ann Roberts: “I would love to – I know I got to meet Dolly Parton and sit down with her and talk to her, and I would love to work with her! She was really supportive and kind and really encourages us to stay true to whom we are and always be real in our hearts no matter how big we get. It’s so awesome to hear someone so successful to hear someone talk about staying true to yourself no matter how big you get – it was really awesome!”

CS4U: If you weren’t singing, what would you be doing?

Emily Ann Roberts: “I love artsy stuff! If I weren’t singing I would love to own a cute cupcake shop where I sell cupcakes. Or I would work with kids, or be around people.”

CS4U: Since our website is called CelebSecrets4U, do you have a secret you can share with us?

Emily Ann Roberts: “I don’t know if I can do it over the phone but I can make a spot on pig noise.” (It’s true we heard it for ourselves!)

CS4U: If you could give any advice to your fans, what would it be?

Emily Ann Roberts: “Whether they want to grow up one day – stay true to they you are. They were made perfectly just the way they are and no one else can do what they can do. Peruse their dream no matter what, if they have a passion in their heart to sing or become a doctor or a lawyer – whatever it is if that’s their passion they need to go for it and fight for it! Never give up, just stay true to who you is the gist of all of it.”
