Chance has had this project in the works for quite some time, performing and recording the secret concert four years ago. He intended to take it to the big screen, but he shelved the project due to his lack of knowledge in the film editing world.

Hunkering down in his Chicago home during the pandemic, the rapper took advantage of his free time and educated himself on the craft of filmmaking. He worked on a few virtual concerts, such as Chi-Town Christmas –a virtual concert he wrote and directed on his own to learn more about film.

Celebrating the fifth anniversary of his Grammy award-winning album Coloring Book, Chance wanted to commemorate this success in a whole new light. He decided that he wanted his virtual concert to be a fun music experience and a different movie-going experience.

Chance found the inspiration for this film through other musicals and concert motion pictures, such as Roger Waters: The Wall and Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker. With help from director Jake Schreier, the movie was shot in three and a half weeks on various stages designed by the rapper.

Chance distributed the film on his own and led the filmmaking process. This makes him the first music artist to distribute a movie through AMC independently.

Tickets are now available to purchase on Fandango, the AMCTheatres app, and chancestuff.com. Don’t miss Chance’s new project! Watch the teaser below and let us know what you think by dropping a reaction below or by sending us a tweet at @celebsecrets.
