Do you ever wonder what happens behind-the-scenes on some of your favorite Disney Channel shows? Well you don’t need to wonder anymore, as we have the scoop on all things Sydney to the Max

For those of you who don’t know, Sydney to the Max is set in the present day with flashbacks to the 1990s. It revolves around an outgoing middle schooler Sydney (Ruth Righi) who lives with her single dad Max (Ian Kesler) in the house he grew up in, along with her grandmother Judy (Caroline Rhea).

As Sydney’s preteen pursuits begin to expand with unexpected and funny twists, Max tries to get a better sense of the guidance, perspective, and support she needs. Flashback scenes to a young Max (Jackson Dollinger) and his best friend Leo (Christian J. Simon) juxtapose the funny predicaments invented by Sydney and her vivacious friend Olive (Ava Kolker).

On tonight’s episode, Syd thinks she’s too old for the father-daughter dance, but she’s afraid to hurt Dad’s feelings. Young Max is bummed when his dad isn’t around for a father-son event.

Christian J. Simon, who plays Leo on the show, told us five secrets from filming season one of Sydney to the Max, and you wouldn’t believe what goes into some of these episodes! Keep scrolling to learn more and make sure catch Sydney to the Max every Tuesday night this summer at 8PM ET/PT on Disney Channel and the DisneyNOW app.

DISNEY CHANNEL FAN FEST – Disney Channel Fan Fest, a unique experience for kids, families and more than 50 Disney Channel stars, took place today at Disney California Adventure park. Throughout the exciting day, thousands of kids and families enjoyed Q&A sessions and “meet and greets” with Disney Channel stars. (Disney Channel/Image Group LA)

The Reading Room is our hangout spot during breaks.

During our down time, we like to play basketball on our lot. One time we had a girls vs boys game with parents. It was so much fun!

Before I go to set to record a scene, I always dance to my favorite songs to get me pumped!

It feels like we have two different shows in one because the boys from the 90s and the girls from the present don’t record together.

Our table read days are the BEST! The energy in the room is electric and we get a good feel for the episode.
