For those of you who don’t know, Sydney to the Max is set in the present day with flashbacks to the 1990s. It revolves around an outgoing middle schooler Sydney (Ruth Righi) who lives with her single dad Max (Ian Kesler) in the house he grew up in, along with her grandmother Judy (Caroline Rhea).
As Sydney’s preteen pursuits begin to expand with unexpected and funny twists, Max tries to get a better sense of the guidance, perspective, and support she needs. Flashback scenes to a young Max (Jackson Dollinger) and his best friend Leo (Christian J. Simon) juxtapose the funny predicaments invented by Sydney and her vivacious friend Olive (Ava Kolker).
On tonight’s episode, Syd thinks she’s too old for the father-daughter dance, but she’s afraid to hurt Dad’s feelings. Young Max is bummed when his dad isn’t around for a father-son event.
Christian J. Simon, who plays Leo on the show, told us five secrets from filming season one of Sydney to the Max, and you wouldn’t believe what goes into some of these episodes! Keep scrolling to learn more and make sure catch Sydney to the Max every Tuesday night this summer at 8PM ET/PT on Disney Channel and the DisneyNOW app.
