Eline Powell, Alex Roe & Fola Evans-Akingbola Dish on ‘Siren’ Season 2 (Exclusive)

The cast teased what’s to come from the sci-fi drama, which includes more mermaids and steamy relationships.

The anticipation for the season two premiere of Freeform‘s Siren is building up here at Celeb Secrets!

Building on the foundation of an epic first season, season two (which premieres this Thursday) of the popular drama promises an appearance of more mermaids in the coastal town of Bristol Cove … but are they seeking revenge or is something more catastrophic driving them out of the sea?

“Season two will definitely have more mermaids,” Fola Evans-Akingbola, who plays Maddie, shares with Celeb Secrets exclusively. “I think if I were to summarize season two so far, we’re exploring what is worth fighting for, what is worth putting yourself on the line for, and what you believe in.”

Throughout each episode, marine researchers Ben (Alex Roe) and Maddie (Fola Evans-Akingbola) continue to establish a bond with mermaid Ryn (Eline Powell), not only to protect her, but to try to help save her entire civilization. Celeb Secrets caught up with Alex, Fola, and Eline at New York Comic Con back in October last year to hear more about the special bond as well as what’s to come from each character in the second season.

“I love the chemistry between Ryn and Ben, between Ryn and Maddie and between Maddie and Ben, so it’s really interesting,” Roe tells Celeb Secrets at NYCC.  “It’s like for Ben, he’s found his soulmate in Maddie and she’s a woman that he’s madly in love with, and then he’s met another creature who he’s been so intrigued by. He’s in love with the ocean and [Ryn] represents everything that is the ocean. I think he’s madly intrigued with her and love is building there in some way.”

“I can tease that [the relationship] is going to be explored in an interesting way; in like a grounded and truthful way. Nothing too crazy,” he adds.

Powell continued to build on what’s to come from Ryn and Ben’s relationship, even dropping a small teaser that there will be more kissing scenes in these sixteen new episodes.

Make sure to catch the season two premiere of Siren on Thursday, January 24th @ 8PM ET/PT on Freeform.
