DAY 2 — SEPTEMBER 24, 2016

Another beautiful celebration has come to a close as the second day of the Life is Beautiful Music & Art Festival winded down. Today shined really bright (a little too bright) as the Nevada sun hit the musical acts and the extremely beautiful art.

In the heart of the festival grid, guests were drawn to the Huntridge Stage, where festival goers were introduced to new artists and old favorites. The smallest of all the stages, Huntridge provided an intimate viewing experience for those who witnessed Sir The Baptist, The Wombats, Oh Wonder and the Dirty Heads. My favorite performance, and Huntridge closers, were the Dirty Heads who absolutely laid it down. If you missed them, I highly recommend seeing them live. They wake up the stage with their unique laid-back sound and cool rap vibes. The crowd couldn’t stop screaming.

Another favorite from Saturday was J.Cole who closed out the night at the biggest stage, the Downtown Stage. He not only performed his biggest hits, but also talked about loving each other and becoming friends with the people around you because that’s what life is about.

One of the biggest draws of the second day was an inspirational talk during the IDEAS Series. RuPaul Charles, television personality, author, model, drag queen and executive producer of Logo’s RuPaul’s Drag Race, took the stage to roars of cheers from thousands of festival-goers. He shared his story of transformation, inspiring audience members to examine and transform their own lives. His talk encompassed what Life is Beautiful is about — people coming together to learn, grow and love one another.

What I love about this festival that it’s not about the music, it’s about the art, the comedy, and even the ideas. You feel like you’re at a fair with the amount of activities to do, including the 100 foot slide at Vita Coco at the 11th Street gate. Milagro allowed guests to get their hands dirty and participate in the festival’s extensive art experience with a paint-by-numbers mural, creating the perfect mix of creativity and beauty. I unfortunately didn’t get to do this because I was running around interviewing some of your favorite stars, but I did get to express myself by getting my hair done how I wanted and adding a ton of glitter to express my mood at the VIP Lounge next to the Downtown Stage.

Today was quite a workload. We got to talk to Sir the Baptist about how he’s making music to go back to the old roots of hip-hop, adding real feeling and emotion while combining it with gospel. It was absolutely stunning and pleasing to the ear live.

We met our new favorite band, The Shelters, who are not only extremely hilarious, but also rocked the stage with their rock and roll vibes. Lastly, we spoke to UK breakout artist, Jess Glynne, who looked stunning on stage and totally slayed in the fashion and voice department.

We still have one more beautiful day ahead of us tomorrow! We can’t wait to rock the last day!
