CelebSecrets just caught up with Kendall, who told us all about the band’s latest song and music video release, “One Way Ticket,” and how the nostalgic direction of this song resonates with his long term career goals. CelebSecrets: Can you tell us about the process of creating “One Way Ticket”?
Kendall Schmidt: When we started “One Way Ticket” we knew we wanted to head in a nostalgic direction. We referenced many of our favorite artists for this song and I think the result is awesome!
CelebSecrets: How do you think the new music video will both be a treat for longtime fans, and let brand new listeners get to know you?
Kendall Schmidt: I think the people who already like Heffron Drive will love the video because it’s Dustin and I having a blast, rocking out. The new faces will get to see us in a mature phase of the band and I can’t wait to see what people think!
CelebSecrets: If you could play your latest music for your teenage self, what do you think he would think of it?
Kendall Schmidt: I think teenage Kendall would love “One Way Ticket.” It’s modern rock and roll!
CelebSecrets: Similarly, if you play some of your current songs for your much older self down the line, what do you hope the songs remind you about in your life right now?
Kendall Schmidt: I hope it would remind me of the passion that we have. These songs are handmade, so I’m very proud of the way they sound. I think older Dustin and Kendall would love it too!
CelebSecrets: Do you have any words of wisdom you’d tell your younger self if you could go back in time?
Kendall Schmidt: Take every opportunity that comes your way and run with it. Also, teamwork is essential.
CelebSecrets: And now for our favorite question, would you be able to share one fun secret about yourself fans may not know about you?
Kendall Schmidt: Some people might know, but we recently got a beehive at my house. Bees are wonderful creatures and I love to watch them do their thing. I also work in a lifestyle brand called Hapbee Company with Carlos and Alexa PenaVega and my brother Kevin Schmidt. People have to check it out!
