Exclusive: We Visit the Set of Nickelodeon’s New Animated Series Harvey Beaks

Harvey_Beaks_02HRFrom Rugrats, CatDog, and Rocko’s Modern Life to Hey Arnold and SpongeBob Squarepants, Nickelodeon is known for creating timeless animation series that are enjoyed by all ages. This weekend, the network is adding a new series to their animation roster called Harvey Beaks, and of course CS4U got all the deets on why you should be tuning in tomorrow after the 2015 Kids’ Choice Awards!

Harvey Beaks, created by C.H. Greenblatt, is about a little bird named Harvey Beaks, who never breaks the rules. He and his two friends Fee and Fo, who are twins that are up to no good, embark on a series of hilarious adventures. Set in a magical forest, this new series follows one sweet bird on his mission to experience wild adventures with the help of his two best friends.  Harvey, Fee and Foo’s connection only grows stronger throughout the series as they push each other into endless fun.

Last week, we headed to the Nickelodeon Animation Studios in Burbank, California to see where all the magic happens! The first event scheduled on our visit to the animation studio was the voice room. We saw first-hand how cast members record voiceovers for the episodes of Harvey Beaks. The most interesting part of the visit was learning how the producers of Harvey Beaks put the series together. If you think they make the animation first, you are completely wrong. They start with a story line and slowly create a scenario for the episode. Once that is finished, the cast members voice the characters’ voices, which was interesting to watch! Producers sit in a studio and call out numbers for the actors to read. Sometimes they make them say the lines once or twice and pick the ones that sound the best. But the more laughs it gets from the room that’s when you the line has really made it and then they animate it. How long do you think it takes to make one episode? Did you guess 9 months to a year? We didn’t either, but it takes almost a whole year just to make one episode.

Next, we watched the first in a special screening room. In the special first look, you catch the mischievous friends trying to have a great time on the lake, but Harvey has to do one thing in order to have as much fun as his friends – GET IN MASSIVE TROUBLE. You have to watch the episode to find out what happens to Harvey Beaks and if he succeeds. Overall, the episode is absolutely hilarious. We literally laughed out loud and Harvey has us saying “Pe-Choo!” all the time. Literally.

Watching Harvey Beaks will bring you joy and laughter. It’s a show for any age and it will bring you the joys, fears, and triumphs of growing up through characters that push their limits and step out of their comfort zones. And if you’re in your twenties (like me), it will remind you of growing up and maybe even give you the motivation to step out of your comfort zone.

Make sure to catch Harvey Beaks tomorrow @ 9:30PM ET/PT following the 2015 Kids’ Choice Awards on Nickelodeon!
