New York… but make it fashion!
Highly-anticipated New York Fashion Week: The Shows 2019 took over Manhattan this week, and though hundreds of designers showed off their Fall and Winter 2019 collections, very few pieces stood out the way the threads at the Fashion Hong Kong show did.
112 mountainyam by designer Mountain Yam opened the show with oversized coat-clad models and a combination of neutral solids and wild pops of color, setting the tone for the rest of the show. Yam says the new Hide & Seek collection, in addition to the rest of the 112 mountainyam label, focuses on “ready-to-wear fashion.” Considering many of Yam’s models worked the runway wearing camo (which is wearable in virtually ANY situation), we’d say Yam hit the nail on the head with this line!
Annette Chan’s Anveglosa followed with her upcoming Salute to Fashion collection, which may have included the most show-stopping designs at Fashion Hong Kong 2019. Models sporting newsboy caps and sleek, floor length dresses and jackets graced the runway, strutting to jazzy versions of rock songs that only made the designs appear to exude more cool. Chan’s dark, earth-toned fashions offered quite the contrast to Yam’s loud colors and patterns.
The Yi Chan and Lary Cheung-designed label Heaven Please+ wrapped up the show with its ELIZABETH, WATCH THE STARS collection. Thick layers and colorfully-padded winter jackets were the theme of this show, as each model that floated down the runway seemed more prepared for a blizzard than the last!
Whether ya love or hate Hong Kong’s high fashion, you have to admit — these looks are definitely memorable!
