George Dalton Talks ‘Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp’ and ‘Trap Queen’ – Read Our Q&A! (@georgebdalton)

AQD_4043_CroppedWish you were still at summer camp? Well, we may not be able to send you back, but we can suggest watching Netflix’s new series, Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, to relive those wonderful camp memories.

Based on the 2001 movie Wet Hot American Summer, the prequel comedy series follows the misadventures of campers and counselors at Camp Firewood on the first day of summer camp. The all-star ensemble cast includes Bradley Cooper, Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler, Elizabeth Banks and Michael Ian Black — just to name a few.

CelebSecrets4U sat down with one of the cast members of the Netflix series, George Dalton, who plays Arty, a music-lover who runs the camp radio station.

Born and raised in Tennessee, George Dalton knew that he wanted to be a performer at a young age. He starred in numerous theatrical productions throughout his elementary school career. He even wrote and directed a full length musical “I, Confess” at only eight years old. Before landing his breakout role as Arty in Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp at the age of 10, George made his debut on the small screen with a guest role the hit CBS comedy 2 Broke Girls and also recurred on Microchip Jones.

Outside of acting, George enjoys swimming, writing, and making YouTube videos for his personal channel, which he uses to document his life.

In our interview, George discusses his character Arty, his YouTube channel and his recently released music video for “Trap Queen” by Fetty Wap.

CS4U: You play Arty in the new Netflix series “Wet Hot Summer: First day of Camp.” Can you tell us a little bit about the show and your character?

George Dalton: Arty is funny, energetic, and runs the Camp Firewood radio station. The show is the prequel to the movie and takes place on the first day of camp, so you get to see how everything began and all the crazy shenanigans that come with it.

CS4U: Being a music lover and artist yourself, is it easy to get into the character of Arty? How much of yourself do you see in him?

George Dalton: The fact that I love music and Arty loves music did make tapping into character natural for me. I basically got to be myself but in a different time period! The only difference I see between us is that Arty is very care-free and I’m a bit of a worrier. However, when it comes down to it we are a lot alike!

CS4U: This show has an all star cast which includes Bradley Cooper, Elizabeth Banks, and Amy Poehler. How does it feel to work alongside such big names in talent? Have they offered you any advice?

George Dalton: Working with all those big names was completely amazing! I never thought I would get the opportunity to with them, so I feel very lucky. Getting to be around such great talent was a wonderful experience for me and I learned so much from watching them work!

CS4U: Aside from acting, you also write and make videos for YouTube which is becoming such a huge phenomenon. What do you love most about making YouTube videos ?

George Dalton: What I love about YouTube is that you get to express yourself and your interests in any way you want. You don’t have to wait around for an audition to come along or for someone to give you a job, you can just go out and create something of your own that you can share with others!

CS4U: You are so young, where do you hope to see yourself in the next 5-10 years?

George Dalton: I love writing and directing, so I would love to pursue that career path. I really want to write, direct, and star in my own horror movie one day! I would also love to direct another play. When I was eight, I directed and wrote a play called “I, Confess” which was a lot of fun, so I would really love to do that again in the future.

CS4U: You just released a music video for “Trap Queen” — what can you tell our readers about it?

George Dalton: My new music video “Trap Queen” is a Jazz, 50’s, pop interpretation of the original rap/hip hop version by Fetty Wap. I had so much fun making the song my own and different from the amazing way Fetty Wap does it. You can watch it now on my Youtube channel “George Dalton.”

CS4U: You also had a party for the music video release — what was it like having your friends and family come out and see the video before it premiered to the public?

George Dalton: It was truly amazing that everyone came out to support me on my big night. I can’t tell you how much it meant to have the support of my friends and family. I loved performing live and hope to do so again soon!

CS4U: What’s next for you in the future?

George Dalton: I am co-writing and starring in an upcoming sequel to a horror film that you can see in either 2016 or 2017! It’s in the development stage right now and I’m very excited about it!

CS4U: Since our website is called CelebSecrets4U, what’s one secret or hidden talent about yourself that fans wouldn’t know about you?

George Dalton: I am really amazing at making any sort of diorama and I am actually a really awesome chef!
