Get to Know ‘Songland’ Contestant Pipobeats with These 5 Facts

Last night’s episode of NBC’s Songland was an absolutely crazy ride for contestant Pipobeats!

To no surprise, Pipo truly blew away producers Shane McAnally, Ester Dean and Ryan Tedder, along with recording artist Luis Fonsi, as they watched in awe when he belted out the Spanish lyrics his fiery Latin track “Sway.” It was so good that not only were Luis, Shane, Ester and Ryan dancing along, but the band was, too!

“That was like musical caffeine right there,” Luis said after Pipo performed. “I love Chile and you like myself speak the language but we live in the United States and we have a lot of different influences. And I can hear that in this song.”

“I think the chorus is a smash,” Tedder added.

Nothing has come easy for Pipo, as he has been perfecting his craft for many years. The Chilean artist is a self-taught multi-instrumentalist. Starting at the tender age of eight-years-old, playing on shoeboxes in lieu of a real drum set and performing at his school talent shows and local events, Pipobeats has performed on national and international stages for thousands of viewers around the world while touring and on Asian and Chilean television. His music has been streamed and played on over 700 college stations and has been featured in various digital and print publications. His fans can also look forward to a single in Spanish and English that will be coming soon.
