Halsey is Introducing the World to a New Genre of Music with Debut Album BADLANDS – Album Review (@halsey)

HALSEY_BADLANDS_JPG“You’re making a mistake” is the discouragement New Jersey-raised singer Halsey was hearing from the music industry. The twenty-year-old singer, whose real name is Ashley Frangipane, isn’t afraid of experimentation and being 100 percent honest with fans. Her music not only has a unique character within the genre, but also hauntingly beautiful.

Halsey’s new album, BADLANDS, is something new, raw, but most importantly personal. Written all by herself, the record follows the journey in an imaginary land of how the future may looks if one was living in the past. We are afraid and at times unhappy about the life we live, and BADLANDS lyrically expresses the emotions we feel.

If you want to listen to an album that is more honest than your mind and want music that speaks to you, BADLANDS is the record for you. We genuinely haven’t heard anything more beautiful and raw in a long time from an artist! As you go through the album, every track gets deeper and deeper. Our personal favorite has to be “Drive.”

Halsey is changing the music industry with her artful, addictive, unique electro-pop sound with more honest lyrics than Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift combined. She is our new girl crush and soon she’ll be yours!

BADLANDS, which is available now, exploded to the Top 5 of the iTunes Overall Top Albums Chart, landing at #2. Simultaneously, the record landed at #1 on the Alternative Albums Chart, while five songs hold spots in the Top 20 of the Top Alternative Songs Chart. It’s on track to be one of the biggest debuts for a new artist in 2015.

This week, Halsey performed on the Outdoor Stage at ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! to a packed house chanting along as she delivered show-stopping renditions of the single “New Americana,” “Hold Me Down,” and more.

Tonight, she rings in the album’s release with a special secret BADLANDS Show in downtown Los Angeles. Attendance to the show was granted to fans who visited the Badlands Air Travel Agency this past Wednesday and received a “boarding pass” as well as other BADLANDS memorabilia.

Congrats on a killer album, Halsey!
