James Charles Loses Partnership with Morphe Cosmetics

April has been quite the month for drama in James Charles’ world. Despite many brands still standing behind the YouTuber and model, cosmetics company Morphe – which carries Charles’ branded eyeshadow palette – has decided to part ways with him.

On their Twitter, Morphe released a statement about their separation saying, “It is and has always been Morphe’s goal to create a positive, safe and empowering space where all beauty lovers can freely share their artistry and passion for cosmetics, and Morphe is committed to furthering that goal.”

Charles took to his Twitter to also release a statement about the parting of ways and alleges that he initiated the split.

“I reached out to [Morphe] and we mutually agreed to wind down our James Charles x Morphe collaboration, which is my only project with them,” Charles writes. “I am continuing to take time away to learn, grow and listen, and look forward to coming back one day in the future as a better version of myself.”

In February 2021, 21-year-old Charles – who has over 25 million YouTube subscribers – was accused by a 16-year-old of “grooming” and inappropriate Snapchat photos. Charles released a tweet later that month stating that the boy told him he was 18 years old and that he only found out later that he was underage.

“I’m not victim blaming him or victimizing myself either,” he wrote. “Simply sharing what happened, and what happened was not okay.”

However, two more underage males – one 17 years old and the other 16 years old – came forward with allegations against Charles via Instagram and TikTok later that month.

While Charles has had to apologize for various situations in the past, including joking about getting Ebola in Africa, fighting with longtime collaborator Tati Westbrook and attending a crowded party at the Hype House during COVID-19, he still retains several partnerships like his recent collaboration with Chipotle.

The real question though is why do we keep glorifying a celebrity who consistently shows an ugly side to his fans thinking he can get away with it if he publishes a public apology? Especially if he’s an alleged sexual predator? Let us know what you think of this by either leaving a reaction at the bottom of the post or by sending us a tweet at @celebsecrets.
