Jāmin only got one chance to give us a first impression and boy did he knock it out of the park!
The budding artist released his debut single “Do You Remember?” with Carol C last month and Celeb Secrets has your first look at the stunning new visual. Filmed in Jackson Heights, Queens, the sultry pop song sets the vibe for the black and white video, which will also be featured on his upcoming EP that’s dropping this June.
“It was made in Jackson Heights, Queens; one of the most culturally diverse neighborhoods in America and probably the world. It’s a historic area and is one of the largest, oldest and prettiest planned neighborhoods in NYC,” Jāmin tells Celeb Secrets. “We had to do a bit of stealth filming (and perhaps wall scaling;)) to make the video. We didn’t have a big budget or much time to do it so I actually ended up playing the part of her ex-lover. Sage, my good friend and co-collaborator and I filmed the video and he edited it together. It was a cold and fun creative winter day filming in a beautifully diverse Queens, NY garden community.”
Born into a musical family, Jāmin’s appreciation of and respect for international music came from his mother, who spent time traveling with the Peace Corps and brought home instruments and sounds that made a strong impression on him as he grew up. He was the first DJ admitted to the NYU Steinhardt School, following a career he built as a very young age as an internationally renowned DJ traveling the world. While studying he went on to open Ishlab, a recording studio in Brooklyn where the likes of A$AP Rocky & Ferg, Jadakiss, Skrillex, SantiGold, Jet, French Montana, Mac Miller, etc spent time recording. Through this, as well as his musical childhood, Jāmin is now taking another step in sharing his sounds and stories with the world as a writer/producer and singer.
