Jonny Glenn Dishes on His New Songs “All Fall Down” and “Wasted” – Exclusive

Friendly suggestion, here: you should definitely be adding some Jonny Glenn to your playlist this season. Don’t say we didn’t warn you. The pop-R&B artist just dropped a wonderful collaboration between him, Ally Hills, and Just Juice, titled “All Fall Down.” Plus, he’s gearing up to release the self-professed “summer jam” of a track, “Wasted” later this week. You know we had to catch up with the artist to get the scoop on all these new tracks, plus find out the story behind his musical journey and creative process. Be sure to check out our exclusive Q & A interview below.

So many people I know are afraid to do something because of what society or someone else will think of them. You have to really go for it and think for yourself. I’m big on independent thinking [and] really going for what you love.

Celeb Secrets: Can you tell us how this collaboration for all fall down came about and what the process was like when you all got together?

Jonny Glenn: I was studying at Boston University late at night in a pretty quiet study room on the 26th floor of our dorm when all of the sudden the lights turned off for the whole floor. 3 figures emerged from a hallway that led to the elevators that were very shadowy, one larger than the others. They started approaching me. I thought I was about to get jumped or something. They turned out to be Juice and 2 of his friends and needed the light lower to take pics. They asked if we could go play some music in our room and I said yeah. The rest is history.

We became friends and I’ve been wanting to do a song with him for like 2-3 years and it finally happened. Regarding Ally, I’ve loved her stuff and known about her through some friends that follow her religiously so that was kind of a dream come true when we reached out and she said yes.

Celeb Secrets: What about recording would you say went as expected, and what surprised you?

Jonny Glenn: Recording was pretty standard I’d say. I was surprised though at how cohesively our 3 voices meshed all doing it in different cities. The power of technology.

Celeb Secrets: Who are some dream artists that your love to collaborate with in the future?

Jonny Glenn: I’ve always had a weird man crush on Snoop Dogg so I think that’d be cool. I currently can’t get enough of Blackbear, Logic, Post Malone, and Bazzi. I listen to them religiously right now. On a grand scale, like Elton John or Paul McCartney.

Celeb Secrets: If this is a listener’s first introduction to your music, what do you hope they take away from it?

Jonny Glenn: I would want a first time listener to see that people of different genres can come together and make something meaningful but also cohesive. I would also hope they like the song 🙂

Celeb Secrets: How would you describe your sound, and your musical goals?

Jonny Glenn: I describe myself as a pop artist but there are more hints of R&B and hip hop coming into my next releases post-“Wasted.” I think my voice has grit and power, but also can be smooth. I think the sky is the limit musically, so whatever I can do on earth with my music I will.

Celeb Secrets: Do you remember there being a specific moment you knew you wanted to pursue music?

Jonny Glenn: My whole life I’ve loved being on stage and performing, whether it was drumming, singing, or playing the piano. There is no feeling like it and I feel most at home while on stage. Ever since I was little I can remember wanting to pursue it.

Celeb Secrets: Can you spill your current 3 most played songs on your playlist right now?

Jonny Glenn: Top 3 most played right now. Post Malone – “Better Now”, Bazzi – “3:15“, Coldplay – “Everglow.”

Celeb Secrets: Beyond music, what are some more of your passions, talents, or causes you care about?

Jonny Glenn: Beyond music, I’ve played soccer my whole life. I played for BU before getting hurt. But I think it was a sign from above to stop soccer and focus on music. I really am passionate about going after what you truly desire in life. So many people I know are afraid to do something because of what society or someone else will think of them. You have to really go for it and think for yourself. I’m big on independent thinking/really going for what you love.

Celeb Secrets: What can you tell us about your next release, “Wasted”?

Jonny Glenn: “Wasted” is a summer jam. I think it’s the catchiest song I’ve released and perfect in time for the 4th of July. I’ve been dancing to it for weeks now in my room by myself. I think people really will enjoy it.

Celeb Secrets: Since we’re Celeb Secrets, would you be able to share a fun secret about yourself, maybe something about your creative process?

Jonny Glenn: So a little secret about my creative process… I’ll literally be dozing off into bed and will hear sounds in my head. No matter how tired I am, I have to spring out of the sheets and grab my phone and record a voice memo… whether it’s lyrics or a melody. I kind of drive myself insane, but have to do it so I don’t forget what I was hearing for the next day.
