Jordyn Jones started showing the world her music skills with rap covers on YouTube. Fast forward a few years later and the multi-threat teen is coming into her own with the release of new, original music.
“Its something that was super scary at first, but if you’re just confident in it and have fun, you don’t really care at the end of the day what other people think,” Jones, now 19 said to Celeb Secrets host Juliet Schroder backstage at VidCon earlier this summer. “I’m so excited since I spent so much time finding my sound and focusing on this music instead of rushing things out.”
Jones’ debut EP, which is expected to drop later this summer, has a heavy pop influence and features her current single “cut em off” and “think about u,” among others. According to the 19-year-old, her music has a more “grown up” sound compared to previous material, which she says “makes it more personal.”
“[My new music] is very grown up compared to my last songs, but my fans have grown up with me so it’s just only right that i grow up, age, and start singing about things that are more extreme or personal. Anything that’s surrounded with my life makes the music more personal and the fans really like it.”
Jordyn Jones will celebrate her EP and give friends, family and select fans a tease of the record with a listening party at Yamashiro in Hollywood on Saturday, August 24th from 1-4pm with details here.
