High School Musical: The Musical: The Series star Joshua Bassett released his new song “Lie Lie Lie” today along with an incredible music video to kick off the new year.
This is the third song release from the 20-year-old singer/songwriter. His previous songs “Common Sense” and “Anyone Else” were released last year and currently have over 20 million streams.
“Lie Lie Lie” is a catchy pop track with incredible guitar riffs and will not only be stuck in everyone’s heads, but also leave them wondering who the song could potentially be about.
The music video takes place in an isolated home in the desert as Bassett sings about someone who was dishonest about how their relationship played out. Included is a scene of Bassett arguing with a girl in his car — a blonde to be exact — both seemingly distressed.
Bassett has recently been in the spotlight on social media after HSMTMTS co-star, Olivia Rodrigo, released her single “drivers license” last week, which caused speculation over their rumored past relationship last year.
Before any discourse occurs over Bassett’s “Lie Lie Lie,” here’s an Instagram post of him performing a snippet of the song back in November 2019, long before their theorized break up around July 2020.

A few months after the split, Bassett was connected to pop singer, Sabrina Carpenter, after she uploaded a TikTok on her account of the pair dressed as Sharkboy and Lavagirl for Halloween. Fans are wondering if Bassett’s relationship with Carpenter had something to do with the split between him and Rodrigo.
Drama aside, fans can expect more new music from Bassett very soon. He is currently working on his debut EP set to release on March 12th.
