JP Saxe is a name you’ll be hearing more of real soon, and Celeb Secrets is sharing everything you need to know before he makes it big.
Earlier this month, Saxe turned heads of listeners all over the world with his stunning duet “If The World Was Ending” with GRAMMY-nominated singer/songwriter Julia Michaels. Produced by Billie Eilish’s main collaborator and brother Finneas, “If The World Was Ending” is a hauntingly beautiful song that shows a sense of loneliness and the urge to be held and loved.
According to Saxe, the way the two crossed paths was “quite serendipitous,” as he saw that Michaels shared one his songs on Instagram as he was listening to her music on a road trip.
“I responded and told her we should write together, and not long after, we met, got in the studio and wrote ‘If The World Was Ending,'” he tells Celeb Secrets.
Influenced by the recent earthquakes in Los Angeles, the song revolves around conversation about how many of the reasons not to see the people really hold up if an apocalypse were to happen.
“I would love if people maybe reconsidered how valid their reasons not to talk to the people they love really are and maybe that leads to something beautiful in people’s lives,” he says. “I don’t think anyone should be texting their exes, but if you have an estranged family member…”
Best known for his breakout single, “The Few Things,” JP Saxe’s unique sense of vulnerability has led to his ever-growing success. Since its release last year, the single has amassed over 50 million streams and lead to JP’s first headlining tour and a label deal with Arista Records/Sony Music Entertainment. He recently released heartrending single, “Same Room” as well as “Women Who Look Like You” featuring rapper Guapdad 4000.
