Kara Connolly‘s got a sweet new love song and Celeb Secrets has your first look at the simple yet stunning lyric video.
Written during the beginning stages of a brand new relationship, “Like I’ve Never Loved Somebody” is about getting vulnerable with someone again after having been hurt in the past and ultimately progressing in the right direction. “I instantly felt safe and seen in ways that I hadn’t with anyone else I had ever dated,” Connolly says of the man, who is now her boyfriend, that inspired the song. “It was all so uncharacteristically easy and simple so I wanted the song to reflect that; just me and a guitar being honest with someone new.”
“I actually played it for my now boyfriend on his birthday, sitting on my living room chair with my guitar, shaking with nerves because I’d never sung someone a song I’d written for them before,” she adds. “We’re still together nearly 4 years later and everything I projected in this song came true… so I guess sometimes intuition is spot on!”
The love song can be heard on Connolly’s debut album, Life In Rear View, which is now available on all streaming platforms. Produced by Bill Lefler (Ingrid Michaelson) and mastered at Capitol Records, Life in Rear View also features some of the singer’s top singles, including ” Other People,” “Let Me Go,” “Nice Guy,” and “Highlight Reel.”
“Life in Rear View has truly been a labor of love. I’ve been writing songs to process my experiences for years from scribbling lyrics in my math class notebook back in high school to playing guitar on my bed and creating songs at 3 in the morning to my first time recording in a professional studio. It’s crazy to have some of that music finally out in the world and to connect with listeners,” says Kara. “Each song on this album contains a little piece of my soul and I hope that when you place them all together you get a greater picture of who I am as both a person and an artist. I’m excited to see where this journey leads.”
