Khalid brought his headlining Free Spirit World Tour to the AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami, FL over the weekend (August 17) and Celeb Secrets had a coveted seat to the R&B singer’s last night of the tour.

Thousands of teens from South Florida came together for their last Saturday before school started to see the GRAMMY-nominated singer onstage for nearly two hours, opening with the title track of his sophomore album “Free Spirit” and performing hits including “Young Dumb & Broke,” “American Teen,” “Better,” “Talk,” and “Location.” Per the request of the fans, Khalid sang an unreleased song and a medley of tracks that included “Keep Me,” “Heaven” and “Shot Down.” He appropriately closed the Saturday night concert with his song “Saturday Nights,” which had the crowd swaying their hands and singing along to the moody track.

Khalid truly embodies the term “Free Spirit,” as his positive energy and big smile complemented his simple set up, empathetic lyrics, and crossover bops. Wearing a black Elmo tee, a backwards baseball cap and sneakers, Khalid doesn’t need all the bells and whistles to speak to the youth. His fans know that the 21-year-old has talent both on and off the stage, and the key to his success is just being himself.

Up next for Khalid are two nominations at the 2019 MTV VMAs on Monday, August 26th, where he’s up for “Best Pop” and “Song of the Summer” for his single “Talk.” You can catch the show live at 8PM ET/PT on MTV.
