Celeb Secrets: Hi Lisa, thank you for taking the time to chat with us. Can you introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about yourself for our readers who may just be discovering you?

Lisa Caprelli (LC): “I am grateful to do what I have loved since I was a little shy girl and that is to write. Today I am proud to be a speaker, songwriter and an author of the unicorn book series, Unicorn Jazz. ™  Unicorn Jazz series offers social emotional learning (empathy, kindness, love, belonging, believing in others, feelings and more). Beyond Unicorn Jazz, I have published a total of 18 books, and have produced music videos for kids. I created Unicorn Jazz Presents The Thing I Do – a family show on Amazon TV and on KidsBeeTV.

CS: You graduated college with a Science degree in Social Psychology, how did you decide that you wanted to pursue writing instead?

LC: “I have been studying human behavior my whole life. I have found that through learning about communication, psychology and people that it has been life-changing. I have always wanted to write since I was 7. I love combining all my work experiences into Unicorn Jazz.”

CS: You wrote an award-winning amazon book series called “Unicorn Jazz.” Could you tell us about how you came up with the idea and what was the inspiration behind it?

LC: We are all UNIQUE, like a UNICORN. I wanted to create a series that encompasses that we are all supposed to be different. We all have different talents, ideas and likes.  Because I love music and always read and sang to my kids, adding the “JAZZ” part to represent music was a no-brainer. It also is a name that is hard to forget. I also know from the beginning that I wanted to make Unicorn Jazz a brand, a local, regional, national and one day, a global household name, just like: Hello Kitty and Mickey Mouse. I know it may seem far fetched, but together with my incredible Unicorn Jazz community, we have done an enormous amount to get where we are today. I started Unicorn Jazz in 2018. I feel proud of what we have accomplished so far, knowing we have much more to do and grow. I look forward to all of it.”

CS: Along with the success of the book you made a tv show Unicorn Jazz Presents The Thing I Do, what was it like watching this book series come to life?

LC: The silver lining in the pandemic was to use the time wisely to create content. Because I have a media and marketing background, I knew it was something I could do and worked day and night for it. I wanted to create a show that would bring HAPPINESS to kids and adults. The show brings me so much happiness.”

CS: What do you hope fans take from Unicorn Jazz Presents The Thing I Do.

LC: “‘The Thing I Do’ encourages kids to do the things they love. Music by Kid Talent! Puppet Performances by Unicorn Jazz and a Zebracorn named Trezekke. Bee Happy and Happiness News Puppets, Unicorn, Guess the Thing Game Show, Did You Know Fun Facts and more! Kids from all over the globe share their talent in show and tell ways. Produced by Lisa Caprelli, children’s author of Unicorn Jazz series. Unicorn Jazz Presents The Thing I Do is an edutainment series on Amazon TV with music, kid actors, puppet game show and puppets. When the Pandemic hit, Unicorn Jazz went on a virtual global tour continuing to reach students and educators to promote happiness, goodwill, kindness and a joy for learning through its characters.”

CS: Do you have any upcoming projects you could hint at or tell us about?

LC: I always enjoy creating new projects and content. We have a Dance and Sing Music Video and song that I wrote with 5 professional kid singers/actors who have come together to create this, all virtually. We plan to share it to raise awareness for a charity we care about in 2022.  I also continue to collect book donations for kids in need. This year we collected over 6,000 books to give to charities like:

CS: If you could describe any upcoming projects in three words what would they be and why?

LC: Help and Give Back. This is the name of my newest book and song. I believe the opposite of selfish is to help others. There are many ways anyone can help and give back as expressed in our ‘Help and Give Back Song’ and its art and the Help and Give Back Unicorn Jazz book.”

CS: What’s your favourite part about writing?

LC: I enjoy that the words you speak from your heart matter. Writing is something that no one can take away from you. Once your words are in print – expressed through art or video, they have a way of inspiring others. I believe God made me a writer so that I can help and share many joys to people of all ages.”

CS: Do you have any dream writing or filming collaborations for the future?

LC: I want to have an animation series one day for Unicorn Jazz. I enjoy continuing to create new and entertaining content for Unicorn Jazz Presents The Thing I Do and look forward to new seasons with the amazing kid talent and team who have helped!”

CS: Since we’re Celeb Secrets, do you have any secrets or fun facts that you’d like to share that our readers wouldn’t know about you?

LC: I am introverted in nature; I grew up shy. I believe that if you want to grow, you have to get outside your comfort zone and do the things you feel you cannot do. ‘If it’s meant to be, it’s up to me.'”
