When many people think of New York Fashion Week, they picture models draped in elegant gowns and fearlessly-artistic streetwear sauntering down the runway. But at NYFW: The Shows 2019, one of the most memorable shows was the one debuting Liu Yong x Rishikensh’s Spring/Summer 2020 athleisure collection.
Comprised of a mixture of bright hues and neutral tones, the largely-monochromatic line featured posh streetwear based on gym basics like leggings, sports bras, and track jackets. While the collaborative collection included several rain jackets and bombers as well, nearly all of them contained elements of sheerness, as to not completely cover the designs underneath.
Though Liu Yong and Rishikensh’s latest collaboration hones in on solids and matching pieces, certain patterns were seen repeatedly during the show. Several items in the new collection featured colorful tie-dye accents, while a handful were covered with a variation of Rishikensh’s flower-esque logo.
Some of the showcase’s most crowd-pleasing moments occurred when elementary school-age models confidently made their way down the runway sporting Liu Yong x Rishikensh’s upcoming children’s clothing. Decked out in nearly-identical apparel as their adult counterparts, both young girls and boys walked in the show, occasionally alongside an older model in a corresponding ensemble.
