Logan Alexandra Calls Out the Cheaters in New Single “Next Girl” (Listen)

Soulful indie-pop artist Logan Alexandra is making waves with her latest single “Next Girl!”

In just a short amount of time since its release, the 21-year-old has garnered over tens of thousands of listeners on Spotify alone.

The empowering rhythmic track finds Logan calling out the cheaters that have plagued her in the past, and letting them know that they can save their tricks for the “next girl.”

“’Next Girl’ was written about a guy I dated for a short period of time who quickly got bored and moved on to someone else during our relationship,” Alexandra tells Celeb Secrets. “I was cheated on, and I noticed a recurring theme that this guy couldn’t stay loyal to not just me but everyone he dated. He was onto the ‘Next Girl’ before the current relationship was even over. Little did he know he messed with a songwriter who would write a pop jam about it!”

The playful song really showcases Logan’s tone and ability to deliver a classic pop smash. We caught up with the singer to hear all about the release, her musical inspirations, and details regarding what’s to come from her in the future.

Celeb Secrets: Thanks for chatting with us! Can you introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about yourself?

Logan Alexandra: “My name is Logan Alexandra. I am a 21-year-old living a double life as a college student during the day and an artist at night! I love to write and record music as an outlet to express myself and tell stories.”

CS: What was the inspiration for “Next Girl?” Can you share some of the story behind the song?

LA: “’Next Girl’ was written about a guy I dated for a short period of time who quickly got bored and moved on to someone else during our relationship. I was cheated on, and I noticed a recurring theme that this guy couldn’t stay loyal to not just me but everyone he dated. He was onto the ‘Next Girl’ before the current relationship was even over. Little did he know he messed with a songwriter who would write a pop jam about it!”

CS: What do you hope listeners feel when they listen to your music?

LA: “I hope that when someone listens to my songs they will feel less alone in the world. If someone who has just been cheated on listens to “Next Girl” I hope it empowers them and helps them move on. I think they will smile at the relatability of lyrics like:

‘and he’s onto the next girl but good luck to her cause he’s a mess, a fake with a smile who knows how to dress, he’ll make you fall in his charming ways but just wait a few more days he’s standing at your door says he wants more and your not it…and he’s onto the next girl.’

We all know a guy like the one “Next Girl” was written about, and that’s what makes music so fun. I wrote it about a specific situation, but the person listening may see it in another light. There are probably lyrics in all of my songs that someone out there needs to hear right now to feel less alone in their situation. They will be able to relate to it, and that’s why I write music.”

CS: We love your soulful sound! What artists inspired you growing up? Who do you listen to now?

LA: “Growing up I listened along with my parents to artists like Elton John and Queen. Now I have fallen in love with modern pop artists such as Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift and Dua Lipa. I think the way I write music takes from both of these generations of music icons. I like to tell a story like Elton John, but have a pulsing beat like Dua Lipa.”

CS: This is Celeb Secrets, can you share a ‘secret’ fun fact about the song or music video?

LA: “The music video was actually shot entirely in my backyard, and featured my very own dog ! It was an extremely hot day at about 110 degrees so between each take there was a lot of sweat blotting to be done!”

CS: What can you tell us about any upcoming music?

LA: “New music is coming every month and I am so excited. Some of the songs I have already released were written 4 years ago. These songs are so important to me and too good not to release, but now that my catalogue of old unreleased songs are about to run out I get to release music that is true to what I’m experiencing right now. That excites me and I can’t wait for it to be out into the world!”
