Logan Alexandra Reflects on Her Time in School with “4 Years” (Listen)

Pop-Soul artist Logan Alexandra is back with her latest single “4 Years” and the nostalgic record has us in our feels!

The 21-year-old singer-songwriter recently graduated from college and decided it was the perfect time to release this single, which she wrote after graduating high school.

“I wrote ‘4 Years’ in 2017 after I graduated high school,” Logan tells Celeb Secrets exclusively. “I was inspired by the range of emotions my friends and I were going through. I wanted to write a song that expressed that same emotion, relief, sadness, and joy. As I sat down to write the lyrics, everything I was feeling came out so easily. I finished the entire song in under an hour and was off to Nashville to record it a few days later. With me graduating college a few weeks ago now was the perfect time to release this song.”

In addition to the undeniably catchy melody and nostalgia filled lyrics, Alexandra is also sharing an accompanying music video that features teen star Piper Rockelle, her squad, and band SM6! This is seriously going to be the anthem of the Summer for students everywhere!

Of course, we had to catch up with the talented recording artist to pick her brain on this release and to ask her for some advice for students out there. Logan Alexandra also exclusively reveals to Celeb Secrets that there is a band version of “4 Years” coming out sooner than you may think.

Celeb Secrets: Congratulations on “4 Years!” The song is super nostalgic to us, and we can imagine it will also resonate deeply with current students. What was your inspiration behind the song, and do you have any personal memories that helped shape the record?

Logan Alexandra: “I wrote ‘4 Years’ in 2017 after I graduated high school. Graduation week consisted of some of the best celebrations and the most emotional goodbyes. I was inspired by the range of emotions my friends and I were going through.

CS: What is one piece of advice you wish you could give yourself as a high-school freshman? What about as a college freshman?

LA: “I would tell myself as a freshman in high school that I’m going to go through a lot of changes. It may feel scary and like the world is ending, but it’s not. Everything will work out for the best in the end. If I could go back and talk to myself as a freshman in college, I would tell her that all her dreams are going to come true sooner than she thinks and to not lose hope.”

CS: What was it like working with Piper Rockelle and her squad, as well as SM6 on the video?

LA: “Piper, the squad, and SM6 were so kind and fun to work with! It was inspiring to be surrounded by people who are so hard working and striving to do the same things that I am. Each of them have their own paths, but are so encouraging to one another and myself in my dreams. It was so fun getting to know each of them and I am thankful they were a part of ‘4 Years.’”

CS: If you could collaborate with any other artists, who would you pick and why?

LA: “My favorite artists are Anne-Marie, Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande, and Taylor Swift. If I got to collaborate with any of those artists that would be a dream come true. I also would love to write with Julia Michaels or Ryan Tedder. They are responsible for some of my favorite songs and are incredibly talented artists and writers.”

CS: Since this is Celeb Secrets, can you share any fun or funny behind-the-scenes moments from filming the music video?

LA: “I have two secrets to spill:

  1. While filming at Piper Rockelle’s house her dog Frank Pugan was a huge help in setting up camera gear! (attached photo)

2) There is a band version of “4 Years” coming out THIS Friday (5/7). Nothing about it has been announced, so this is an exclusive reveal! There will be a song and another music video. I can’t wait for you all to see it.”
