Loote’s New EP “Heart Eyes” is the Perfect Blend of the Struggles and Triumphs of Falling in Love

If you aren’t one of the 5,217,985 monthly listeners of NYC-bred pop duo LOOTE, WHAT ARE YOU EVEN DOING!?

After their debut 2018 EP accumulated over 150 million streams, LOOTE was a name many knew and would not soon forget. Aside from creating hits like “Your Side Of The Bed” and “High Without Your Love” Emma Lov and Jackson Foote (LOOTE) have been writing and producing for artists you know and love such as Zara Larson, Shawn Mendes, Joe Jonas, David Guetta and Gnash to name a few.

On April 24th, LOOTE will be debuting their new EP Heart Eyes. While their previous singles and projects have touched on love and heartbreak, Heart Eyes shows a side of Emma and Jackson we have never seen before. This EP actually talks about the POSITIVES of love and how real, authentic, genuine love can affect you.

Don’t get me wrong, the EP does not talk about love being all sunshine and rainbows. It takes you through both the beauty and pain of growing a relationship. It touches on insecurity and fear of not being wanted but also demonstrates the courage it to takes to be vulnerable enough to admit you want love even if it might hurt you.

This EP from LOOTE is exactly what anyone on the hunt for romance needs. No sugarcoating or pretending that all love is perfect but also no sad boy/girl talk that “love doesn’t exist.” It’s a perfect blend of the struggles and triumphs of falling in love, and what is more real than that?

Celeb Secrets was given a special stream of Heart Eyes prior to its release in order to get a feel for the songs so I could properly break down my favorites and talk you guys through it. Aside from the obvious of immediately being swept off my feet and forced to dance around my room, here is our break down of each song:

All The F**king Time

The lead single off the EP perfectly articulates what any individual wants from someone they are absolutely obsessed with.

I don’t want it at all if I can’t have it all

What’s the point if we’re stuck in the middle, yeah?

I just want you to want me all the fucking time, yeah

If those lyrics aren’t relatable, you’re lying to yourself.

Sex With My Ex

As hard-hitting as the song is, this may be one of the more vulnerable tracks off the EP. With Jackson taking the lead, his vocals cry out:

Ever since we broke up I don’t know what love is

Girl you never make me wanna fall in love

Again with the reliability! Who hasn’t gotten hurt once and is therefore, is scared to be hurt again??

Somebody Else

Since this song’s release on April 3rd, it has been one of my absolute favorites.

You didn’t want me til I wanted somebody else….

I walked away and you came running back to me

Sometime it’s so difficult to see what’s right in front of you until it’s not there anymore. Whether it’s because you’re afraid of the potential of it being real and getting hurt, or because you truly don’t recognize it. I think everyone has experienced an “oh sh**” moment when the person who once wanted them has now moved on.

Songs About Girls

What if we crash and burn, what if we both get hurt, will tonight make it worth it?….

I’m bad with my words and songs about girls, this shit makes me nervous

I’m scratching the surface but you make me nervous

It’s evident through the lyrics that this song is the most vulnerable of the bunch. Aside from it being the most stripped down of the five, this song will definitely put you in your feels. Despite vocalizing insecurities, the song ultimately concludes that love is worth the risk.

This Is How You Feel When You Think Of Me

Said that you don’t see me with anyone else, now I don’t feel so crazy wanting you for myself

I don’t know about you, but I’m never the first to admit my feelings. Probably because I want to be sure I don’t look crazy for liking someone who might not like me back. Props to Emma on being confident enough to admit her insecurities for so many to see. The more relatable you are as an artist, the more people you can affect.

If you’re writing about being hurt by love, its pretty evident you believe in love. Here’s what Jackson and Emma had to say about the EP:

“‘heart eyes’ is proof that Jackson and I are hopeless romantics,” Emma says. “I think this is our first EP that delves deeper into the positives of love, which is important. It’s new. I’m not used to being happy, and feeling good about a relationship with someone else OR myself. Even when I channel my inner pop-punk kid, I’m really talking about how much I love a person. I genuinely love being able to express it via music. Sometimes words alone don’t do it justice. Whether it be melodically, or in Jackson’s insane production, it all serves a purpose. To me, this feels so real. It’s us, hearts sewn on our sleeves, seeing the world through (mostly) rose-tinted glasses. We’d be useless without love. Utterly useless.”

“The ‘heart eyes’ EP is about being in LOVE! For once! Me and Emma always say that our bodies of work always paint a reflection of the realities of our lives. That’s what ‘heart eyes’ is,” Jackson adds. “I was seeing Emma go through it and she was seeing me go through it. This EP should feel happy, uplifting, and frantic.”
