Mallory James Mahoney Shares Her Love For the Creative Process Behind Film: “It’s Amazing”

Mallory James Mahoney knew from a very young age that she wanted to be in the performing arts.

After a year of begging her parents to enroll in a local theater, they finally agreed and next thing they knew, she was offered a solo. At eight years old, Mallory decided she wanted to try acting in TV/film and ended up landing her very first audition, a Chuck E. Cheese commercial. Fast forward seven years later and Mahoney is a series regular on Disney Channel’s hit series BUNK’D, where she plays a beauty pageant veteran named Destiny Baker.

Aside from acting, Mahoney tells Celeb Secrets that she’s fascinated with the entire film industry as a whole and loves how such a small idea can become a big production.

“I just love the whole process from creating a concept to grow it to writing a script. Then directing and knowing all your shots and camera angles and being able to find the right crew who understands it and works hard. Also getting to edit your work and see the vision to light,” Mahoney tells us in our five fun facts feature. “And of course the acting and getting to really dig into a character to figure out who they are and making the character your own. Honestly the whole process is amazing.”

I’m 15 years old:  I have my Driver’s Permit but since I’m not very tall, (my legs are long but my body is short) I can reach the foot pedals but need a cushion to see over the hood of the car.

I’m an only child: But, I count my 2 dogs Botticelli (a Great Pyrenees) and Bark Wahlberg (a Golden Doodle) as my brother and sister.  Maybe this is why I’m so passionate about saving and protecting animals!

I’m a bit of a nerd: I love school. I’m in the accelerated honors program at my school and I hold myself to high standards of needing to make straight A’s. I think I may want to major in Biology when I go to college.

I’m from Texas: I actually still live in Fort Worth, Texas when I’m not filming. My family and I keep our main residence in Texas and we have a place in LA for when I’m acting. It’s wonderful because I get to still be with all my friends I’ve had my whole life in Texas but I also get to see my Cali friends when I’m filming.
