Maty Noyes Delivers the Breakup Bop of the Summer with “Wrong” (Listen + Watch)

Maty Noyes is proving that age is just a number in comparison to her level of talent.

At only 23-years-old, the Corinth, MS native’s resume is stacked — from writing a song for Celine Dion to being featured on The Weeknd‘s “Angel” and Kygo‘s “Stay,” Noyes has even toured with Noah Cyrus while working on her new project and discovering her true artist self.

Listeners got a taste of what’s to come from Noyes’ upcoming album with the release of “Man Needs A Woman,” “Sunlight” and “Love Don’t Cost A Thang” this year. Keeping the momentum going, the 23-year-old served up the newest track “Wrong” earlier this summer and it’s the breakup bop we never knew we needed… until now.

“The song is trying to find light in the middle of hardest break up ever,” Noyes tells Celeb Secrets about the song. “I knew there were things I had to learn and I could only do so on my own. We could have stayed together but I know now a year later that breaking up was the right thing for us both even though it hurt.”

The music video, which dropped last week, starts off with Maty inside a paint-by-number page which is filled in as the songstress sings through the feelings of a breakup.

“This video is about the alternative world we choose to live in rather than being and loving ourselves first,” Maty shares. “At times making that decision can stir up trouble, but at least it is fun! I’m so happy to finally have this video out in the world and hope everyone enjoys!”

She adds, “There’s more under the surface. Even if things don’t seem ‘Wrong,’ if the smallest thing is off, everything is off. You have to listen to your intuition and love yourself first.”

Celeb Secrets (virtually) sits down with Maty to talk about “Wrong,” her favorite memories from filming and what’s to come from her upcoming music.

Celeb Secrets: Congrats on the release of your new song “Wrong” – can you talk to us about the meaning behind the track and the creative process behind it?

Maty Noyes: “The song is trying to find light in the middle of hardest break up ever. I knew there were things I had to learn and I could only do so on my own. We could have stayed together but I know now a year later that breaking up was the right thing for us both even though it hurt.”

CS: You also just dropped the music video for the song – what was the inspiration behind the visual?

MN: “There’s more under the surface. Even if things don’t seem ‘Wrong,’ if the smallest thing is off, everything is off. You have to listen to your intuition and love yourself first.”

CS: Do you have a favorite memory from filming?

MN: “Probably getting to cover myself in paint I love to make a mess. I also loved flailing my body around in the yard.”

CS: What do you hope people take away from listening to “Wrong?”

MN: “I hope they realize that change is okay. We have no actual control over anything.  Whatever is meant to be in our life will serve us for as long as we are able take from it. Then, we hit a wall and need to learn something new.”

CS: Is “Wrong” a taste of what we can expect from you in terms of new music?

MN: “I would say there’s some similarities but the album as a whole is pretty unpredictable.”

CS: How have you been staying busy during the pandemic? Do you find yourself working on more projects now that you have more time at home?

MN: “I have never been more busy in my entire life. Quarantine helped me re-center myself and focus on what I need to be focusing on.”

CS: Since we’re Celeb Secrets, do you have any behind-the-scenes secrets from filming the video that we wouldn’t know when watching it?

MN: “My best friend Molly played my stunt double and we had to pretend to make out. It was funny!”
