Emily Hough, 16
Team Adam
Hometown: Petersburg, Illinois
Resident: Petersburg, Illinois
Growing up with an Army dad, Emily’s family moved a lot, but her dad always made time for music. After playing with her dad’s guitar, Emily found her interest in music at just five years old. At seven, Emily won third place at a local fair by singing Taylor Swift’s “Our Song”, which inspired her to start taking guitar lessons. Emily soon began gigging wherever she could and quickly became known as the singer in town. At 15, Emily opened up for Brothers Osborne at the county fair and that’s when Emily knew she was ready for the main stage. Emily hopes to prove to her small town that big dreams can come true.

Josh grew up in the church where his dad led worship and his mom played the piano. His entire world changed when he became a member of the Christian boy band, 3for3. The band released music, toured, and placed on the Christian charts. Josh was crushed when the band fell apart about a year and a half later and he moved back to his small hometown. However, Josh learned a lot from the experience including his interests in music beyond the Christian genre. He is ready to pursue his music career once again.

Matt Johnson, 26
Team Jennifer
Hometown: Staunton, Virginia
Resident: Staunton, Virginia
Matt lives in a small town in Virginia where growing up biracial and gay was often difficult. Musical theater provided an outlet for Matt to be his true self. At 20, he moved to Houston to join Bayou City Theatrics and jumpstart his career. About a year later, Matt’s world was turned upside with the news of his mom being diagnosed with breast cancer. He moved back home to be with her as she continues to battle the now terminal metastatic cancer. Matt currently works part time as a manager at Grace Estate Winery, but has not forgotten about his music dreams.
