Mike Posner’s New Album Drops From Weather Balloon 20 Miles Up in Space – WATCH

Detroit native singer-songwriter and producer Mike Posner took the concept of “dropping” his long-awaited new album At Night, Alone. (featuring the global multi-platinum hit “I Took A Pill In Ibiza (Seeb Remix)”) to new heights – physically launching the record from a weather balloon 110,000 feet (20 miles) up in space, to land on earth (in Massachusetts) on its release day Friday.

Mike partnered with GoPro to capture the entire 3-hour album launch, whose full 1080p 3-D 360 video will be available soon.   The engineering feat (2.5 hours up, 30 minutes down) will give techies and other humans the opportunity to immerse themselves as closely as possible in the dream-like VR experience of traveling this high in space.

Friday’s send-off of At Night, Alone. is powered by the worldwide success of the RIAA platinum “I Took A Pill In Ibiza (Seeb Remix)”) which has surpassed 300 million streams.  The track hits #1 on the Pop Airplay chart this week following its #5-bullet on the Billboard Hot 100 (Mike’s first Hot 100 hit in 5 years), #2 on the Top 40 Airplay chart, and #5 Rhythmic.  After 4 weeks at #1 in the UK, the track hit #1 on the U.S. and Global Shazam charts; and Top 5 on the U.S. and Global Spotify charts.  In 10 weeks, the video for “I Took A Pill In Ibiza (Seeb Remix)” boasts over 181 million YouTube views.

“I Took A Pill In Ibiza (Seeb Remix)”) ascends the stratosphere as Mike prepares to open for fellow Island artists Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas across North America this summer on their Honda Civic Tour: Future Now.
