Miss Louisiana & Miss Florida Win Big at the Second Night of Miss America 2016 Preliminaries (#MissAmerica)

We are so close to seeing who will be crowned the next Miss America!

During the second of three preliminary nights for the 2016 Miss America Competition in Boardwalk Hall, Miss Louisiana, April Nelson, was named Wednesday night’s preliminary Talent winner for her vocal performance of “Climb Every Mountain” from the musical “Sound of Music.” April will receive a $2,000 scholarship.

Also capturing the spotlight was Miss Florida, MaryKatherine Fechtel, who was the preliminary Lifestyle and Fitness winner in a white swimsuit. MaryKatherine will receive a $1,000 scholarship.


The national broadcast of the 95th anniversary of the 2016 Miss America Competition will take place on Sunday, September 13 (9:00 -11:00 p.m. ET live/PT tape-delayed), live from Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall on the ABC Television Network.
