Happy Monday, readers!

Meet our new Music Monday artist this week, Ruthie Collins.

Ruthie Collins is a proficient singer/songwriter born and raised in western, rural New York who has a love affair with everything vintage.

“I am a really old-fashioned person living in 2014,” Collins says. “I drive a 1984 Jeep Wagoneer with wood paneling, but there’s a backup camera and an iPod dock. I am obsessed with rustic farmhouse decor. I have a garden. All these things are very country, we just don’t always think about young women in that way. But they’re out there and they’re having crafting parties with their girlfriends. Whether it’s something that’s timeless or something brand new that aspires to that, I am drawn to things that speak of permanence. And that’s how I feel about my music – the upright bass and bluegrass instrumentation modernized and brought into the present day.”

Her debut single “Ramblin’ Man” is just like her personality — vintage. Ruthie and her producer Curt Gibbs took a vintage approach when producing her debut single. “Ramblin’ Man,” was originally performed by Hank Williams, but when Williams’ mournful cry is joined by Collins’ ethereal vocals over a completely unexpected backbeat, traditionalists instantly know the track is no mere cover of the 1953 chart-topper.

Just recently, Ruthie was inducted into CMT’s Next Women in Country, which is home to many notable female country artists including Lauren Alaina, CAM, Cassadee Pope, Danielle Bradbery, and Kelsea Ballerini. Currently, the country singer is working on her upcoming EP and filming a series called Ready To Roll, which follows Ruthie as she rehabs a 1975 Airstream trailer.

CelebSecrets4U caught up with Ruthie during the CMA Music Festival in Nashville, Tennessee where we talked all things vintage! In our interview, Ruthie tells us about her “vintage country” style, what its like being named one of CMT’s Next Women in County, and her EP that she is currently working on. She even told us some juicy secrets about herself — make sure to watch the video below for more!
