Music Monday: Meet V.Rose

VR_YDH_Cover_500_Lo (1)Happy Monday, readers!

Meet our new Music Monday artist of the week, V.Rose.

V.Rose is the latest prodigy from InPop Records. The Sacramento native is not only a phenomenal vocalist. She raps and is obsessed with beauty products/jewelry, fashion and makeup. She even has her own beauty vlog!

“I grew up singing in church. My mom was a singer and I sang in the choir, so I knew when I was really young that I wanted to be a singer,” V.Rose tells us exclusively. “I just started writing songs. I was listening to music all of the time. When I was old enough to get a job, I started paying for studio time and trying to like take the next big steps to become a singer, and that’s how I sort of got into it. I was able to meet my manager, who is still managing me, who helped me learn a lot more about the industry and what it would take to become a professional singer and how to sing live and all kinds of stuff. That’s sort of how I got into it.”

V.Rose came from the hip hop world having toured and recorded with the industry favs Trip Lee, KB, FLAME and many others. The 27-year-old is merging that world with her love for pop and delivering a captivating album, and sharing her story that is impacting many. Her album, Young Dangerous Heart, was released on iTunes this past Friday (April 22) and she is already out on the road promoting it.

Celeb Secrets caught up with V.Rose recently to talk all things music, beauty, and vlogging! In our interview, the rhythmic pop singer talks about the process behind making Young Dangerous Heart, her beauty videos, and favorite products. She even shared why you should check out her album and the strong messages behind her music — make sure to read the full Q&A below!

Celeb Secrets: You have an album coming out really soon. What was the most exciting part about recording?

V.Rose: “I think recording is always like – it’s like a fish being put back into water. It’s just something that every artist I think looks forward to because you get to pour your heart back out about stuff that you’ve been going through, especially as a songwriter just getting stuff off of your chest and getting to make this really awesome polished song and message. I think that’s my favorite part is just being able to create this beautiful thing that has been in my heart and then being able to share it with people, so recording is always a fun process because you get to sort of see what works, what doesn’t work. You don’t really know, you know, what the finished product is going to be and I think that’s the exciting part is like I don’t know and then you just sort of try stuff.”

Celeb Secrets: So you have a trial and error sort of process? Like do this and if it doesn’t work you try again?

V.Rose: “Right, right, right.”

Celeb Secrets: That’s cool. We heard you are also really into makeup and have a beauty blog.

V.Rose: “Well I started like a weekly blog on my YouTube channel, and then recently, I started writing an actual blog on my website, so I’m sort of doing both, but I love watching beauty blogs and stuff like that and reading about new makeup trends and all that. I’m very into it, so I don’t really think I’m like a makeup guru or anything, but I do think I have several tips and tricks that I picked up over the years, so I just try to share that in my own unique way, but I think it’s pretty cool. I think people like it. I’ve got a lot of good responses from doing it so I will continue to do it.”

Celeb Secrets: What’s your one product you can’t live without?

V.Rose: “Definitely my Stila eyeliner. So recently, I don’t know, in like the last few years, I actually started wearing winged eyeliner. I never wore it before. I don’t even know how – I must have saw a video or something — and I tried it and I was like why have I not ever been doing this. It was really hard to do, but that eyeliner, it’s like a marker almost so it makes it a lot easier to draw it on and then I also draw this little black heart on my cheek, and that’s how I draw it. It just makes it a lot easier to do that, so you have a lot more freedom with that pen than other eyeliners.

Celeb Secrets: So it’s like a marker?

V.Rose: “It’s like a felt tip. Yeah. And the one I use is waterproof, so it’s not gonna go either. I have to use really good makeup remover for it to come off.”

Celeb Secrets: Where can our readers find your vlog, blog and music?

V.Rose: “My vlog is on my YouTube channel and it’s at VRoseMusic and it’s a weekly vlog so usually I update it on Thursdays and then my blog is on my website and that’s vroseonline.com and my new music is going to be available in all digital markets as well as Christian bookstores. You can get it at iTunes, Amazon, Google Play. The preorder is already up and available online now too.”

Celeb Secrets: How would you describe your sound to our readers?

V.Rose: “I would say it’s like rhythmic pop, especially with my new album Young Dangerous Heart, I was able to really go further with this style that I think I recently have reached, which is more dance music and more like vibey I guess. So that would be the best way to describe it. It’s more modern.”

Celeb Secrets: You have a really strong message in most of your music for young girls and their body image. Do you have any advice for any young girls struggling?

V.Rose: “I definitely went through that whole struggle growing up. I grew up with five brothers. I have six now and I really had identity issues. I didn’t really know if I was talented or cute or any of that and so I would encourage girls to look within themselves instead of asking other people or instead of looking outside, I guess. I would encourage girls to know who they are from the inside out. When you figure out who you are and who you can be on the inside, then you are able to own that and then you can tell people around you who you are and so you’re living from the inside out rather than looking from the outside at magazines, Instagram or whatever and grabbing from that and trying to find your identity and putting that inside. I would just encourage girls to live from the inside out because beauty comes from the inside.”

Celeb Secrets: That’s really good advice. I feel like I needed to hear that myself.

V.Rose: “I have to tell myself that all of the time (laughs).”

Celeb Secrets: Is there a reason that you think our readers should check out your music? Anything that makes you different?

V.Rose: “I think, especially with this album, I really poured my heart into it and, you know, I feel like albums should be an experience, not just a bunch of songs that don’t go together or whatever, so I think with this album, I really tried to make it an experience. I really wish everyone would check it out, so they can go on this journey I’m going to take everyone on with this music.”

Celeb Secrets: As you may know, our website is called Celeb Secrets, so do you have a secret you’d like to share or a hidden talent no one knows about?

V.Rose: “Ooh I have tons of hidden talents (laughs). I’m really good at sports. I actually, I do like graphic design, so I recently got into graphic design, motion graphics. I do a lot of media stuff. I also really love to dance and so I think I want to get more into that with my artistry in the future.”
